Battle of three amps Hurricanes. I heard a set and loved 'em! Spent about 4 hours listening to vinyl through them. Since I, like you, and my buddy who has the ASL's are all wedded to vinyl, I have to give them the nod over the others. That said, I've had no experience ...
cones under your tube amps?? I second Twl, I use Audiopoints under everything. I like 'em!Disclaimer: I only stick with things I like, and don't have any afilliation with any audio manufacturer.
Preamp Deal of the Century Tim,I just got my Syrah, second hand. In the past week I've tried about 20 different tubes, 3 power cords, 5 pairs of ic's, and 2 amps. The sovtek 5881's are not that bad, but I deiced to go with JJ's for now. I didn't want to pull the Tung Sols ou...
A difficult LP reproduction question Albert,I talked to a buddy of mine who built the newest version Seduction. He loves it. From what he says, you CAN NOT go wrong for the money. I wanted to try it, but he would not swap for my Microgroove! He was going to let me use the Ear when I ...
What is the fastest clamp? Tom,How much weight do you think the Teres bearing will handle? Like I need another project! But, I bet a nice brass on, or copper to match the new Supratek, would be cool. Easy to machine. Maybe 3-4 pounds. What do you think?Joe
Is your turntable spinning while you clamp down? Join the club. Part on the analog "experience"!
Preamp Deal of the Century Larry,Sounds good. The sellar has included a bunch of tubes with the Syrah. He told me his preferences out of what he has. I've read the thread and there seems to be a consensus on which tubes sound "best". Any help would be most apreciated!Joe
A difficult LP reproduction question I actually heard that Rat Shack thing. Believe it or not, you can't go wrong trying it. It's $25, special order off the website. But remember, MM only.
teres battery option with gyrodec SE Tom,I just checked the Teres site, are you sure the battery option is gone? If so, I will be kicking myself for not getting one. I was going to do it a month ago, but keep forgetting due to other projects. I guess I'll check next week to see if I ...
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase If she had any clue, she'd shoot me! The only thing she knows the real price on is the tv, since we went shopping for it together. I usually tell her a component costs about a quarter of what I spend. Since she has no idea, it works for me.If she ...
Preamp Deal of the Century Well, after reading this thread many times, I finally bought a Syrah. It will be here on Tuesday. I got the one listed here with the copper top & covers (Thanks Vade!). I can't wait to get it started in my system. Being way biased toward vinyl...
Kondo Neiro Khaki8 is correct. While my AN kit is a little farter down the line, matching the components is essential. WHen I switch from my AN speakers to the Legacy's (which cost twice what the AN's cost}, the sound loses the punch, clarity, and speed I'm u...
Is your turntable spinning while you clamp down? I do it both ways. Sometimes while it's on & sometimes whan it's off. Does not seem to have any effect whatsoever on the Teres motor.
Analog for SET based system Since I followed Tom's advice, I have to agree. The only non tube piece I have is the step up tranny. And that will be gone on Tuesday with the delivery of my Supratek Syrah. The Teres is so easy to set up it's almost criminal!A 245, Rega or OL ar...
What makes your Home Theater system I'd love to have Albert's system, but I make do. I feel that the closeness of the room is what makes it more fun at home. I've had the same experience as Albert at the theater. It is most annoying, and for the last couple of years, I wait for the ... |
