Grounding blocks, boxes and cables, what are you using? @twoleftears I used the Granite and it works. It is similar to a new Nordost product. http://www.nordost.com/qrt/qkore-ground-unit.phpIn the end it required too much fiddling and too many wires for me. Mine is for sale if anyone is interested.
PS Audio P5 owners--are the fans truly quiet? @hifiman5 Are the fans on the P5 significantly more quiet than the fans on the PPP?
What is really the purpose of streaming?? I think it is mostly about convenience, but if you use Roon with Tidal it can show you music that you can discover, like, and possibly would have never thought to hear.
Do I need a sut? I agree with @jmcgrogan2 that you should not run the transformer into the MC input on your Herron phono stageFrom the review in Stereophile. The T-2000 transformer has 36 db of gain."At a ridiculous 0.05mV (50µV), there is no preamp with high-enou...
Reducing Background Noise On Records Your records are not noisy because of how they were recorded, unless there is something very unusual about these specific records. Are you playing only picture disks?Records can be noisy for a few reasons:Excessive wear, playing on a junk record p...

Technics 1200g vs Rega rp8, VPI aries, avenger, Basis 2000, Linn LP12 etc. Can it compete? I would pick the Basis if you can get a used one with a Basis Vector tonearm. The Vector tonearm is much better than the stock tonearms on the Technics, VPI, Rega, or Feikert (Jelco)
What’s in your system today that you also had 10 years ago? Linn Genki CD player
Dynaudio vs Harbeth vs ProAc @fast Hard to say, but as I was changing speakers around I owned quite a few different brands including Joseph and Harbeth, but ended up back with the ProAc D-40r. The new ribbon tweeters are so well integrated and natural sounding it is tough to ...
Alternatives ot Dynavector DV-1t The Benz-Micro (LPS) is warmer than the DV, but is still worth hearing. The top line EMT (JSD series) is not as warm as the Benz-Micro and has bottom end slam just as the DV, but maybe better IMO.Enjoy your search.
Any of you experiment with optimal VTA for Benz Micro Cartridges @prof Enjoy your new analog set up. Your phono stage looks like it has enough gain and plenty of settings for load.Best Regards,Jim Perry
Any of you experiment with optimal VTA for Benz Micro Cartridges @prof Nice turntable. This discussion was about the slope of the cartridge, back to front, with comments that the BM sound better with with the back (tail) of the cartridge slightly higher than the front so the comment "tail up". I hope you have pl...
Alternatives ot Dynavector DV-1t I have not heard the DV-1S but I have heard the DV-1T. It is a great sounding cartridge. Before making a decision you should see if you can hear a top line Benz-Micro (LPS) and a top line EMT (JSD series). There are others to explore as well.
SUGDEN MASTERCLASS FPA-4 Class A amp Arizona Hi Fi in Phoenix, AZ. Great shop with great products and a great owner.
SUGDEN MASTERCLASS FPA-4 Class A amp The sound stage was great on both speakers I heard them on. I have not heard the Monitor Audio speakers so I can't comment. I would have purchased, but it was not the best match with my preamp. |
