Does power conditioning really matter?
I would not have a problem using a descent conditioner on that system. Pretty safe way to go. OTOH, as you start to build a hi rez system the conditioner can get in the way of transient speed. Budget conditioners can kill the music.A crappy surge ...
Power Conditioners Recommendations
Ngjockey, that is pretty impressive arsenal. You have taken this much further than most. Right now I am using a 1500w step-down with regulation to a dedicated circuit. Seems you have added your own regulation or the best possible regulation by fee...
Power Conditioners Recommendations
Ngjockey, there are others too and they work well. Some have power regulation and surge protection. Seems to me that they act as one big filter without killing speed and dynamics. I don't think I have seen anyone post on this before. I have seen p...
will adding a subwoofer improve overall audio
I have tried running my mains (JM Lab 936) in full range with the JLA f113's. It did not work out as well. It seems that taking the strain off the amps opens things up in the upper mids and highs and these subs do a better job from 80 on down. Mor...
What's wrong with Velodyne?
Maddadtexas, back on 3-24-08 you started a thread "subwoofer selection help????" and named the JL Audio F113 as one of the subs you were possibly looking to buy. The next day you ordered the SVS online. I don't know why you would have named the JL...
Power Conditioners Recommendations
Dedicated lines with Oyaide outlets is where I would throw money first if you are going to get serious. I would not put a tube amp on a conditioner either.
What's wrong with Velodyne?
Nothing wrong with the Velodyne DD series at all but the DD15 was not in the same league as the JL Audio F113 from what I heard as well as the dealer. DD18 is a different story however. Can fill a big room but the F113 seemed to be more musical to...
need recommendations for sub for music
Dogmatix, you need to look at the specs on the JL's. Very powerful and musical. When talking about cable channels and no corner placement you need lots of power and excursion. JL F113, Velodyne DD18 or SVS Ultra 13 minimum for an open floor plan. ...
Best Big Sub? or duals?
Adona spikes.
DIY Acrolink or Lessloss for Cary SLP-05?
I have a hard time believing that the Lessloss cord would ever sound harsh and fatiguing or bright. More compressed sounding than others on my system but never harsh which would lead to fatigue. No doubt they are a good cord and well built but not...
will adding a subwoofer improve overall audio
I have Electra 936's and 2 JL Audio F113's and it is a HUGE improvement. I would have never bought these subs from reading posts or reviews. What I was reading however made me find some to demo. These add a great deal of depth and you will feel li...
Best Big Sub? or duals?
It would have been a good choice either way. The software on the DD18 is really tough to beat but the smaller powerful sub got my attention as well. Putting spikes on mine tightened things up some more too. I have carpet on wood floors. Have fun w...
Best Big Sub? or duals?
Hey Coach, my room is big. 18'w x 40'd x 10h and one on each side of the speaker is ideal. Adds great bloom, depth and stage. Nice controls which makes them very versatile and integrate nicely with time. They don't disappoint that's for sure.
Best Big Sub? or duals?
The G213 has a huge sweet spot as well as 2 F113's. For the money you may want to go with the two F113's. DD18's would be another great choice. I use the F113's because I felt they have great slam and extension with zero overhang. They look great ...
JL Audio f112 blown speaker?
What I don't understand is the fact that all the reviews basically rave about this sub and yet they have this so called disortion in the way. I have tried everything in my power now to drive this F113 to the point where I should be getting distort...
