What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
Bought a pair of Higher Fidelity 138 monoblocks for a sweet deal. Very very powerful. But needed some love. Postponed that. Bought my first biamp cable, a vd hul Revelation. It had the most thick spades ever made. The cables were also very heavy s...
Do you prefer tidy room to messy one with better sound?
Well the best experiences i had audio wise were in rooms that were both tidy and sounded excellent. I felt completely at ease and could better focus on the music, instead of looking at the clutter. I strive for a tidy system myself but it's diffic...

Best cheap system I have ever heard
The reason I post this. Is that I wish I would read more posts such as this. Great synergy between 2nd products. I know it's all objective. But the more money I spend in this great hobby. I'm beginning too believe less is more.
What are some of the most underrated and overrated loudspeakers you’ve auditioned?
For me personally the most underrated speaker would be the Alon II. It's an ugly duckling, needs plenty of space. But the sound coming out of that speaker is really special!  Soaring highs, boogie factor and good bass. Also the prices they go for....
What was your first big eye opener with regard to audio?
Great post! It makes me reflect upon my purchase decisions. My top #3 would be1. Loaner Cardas speakercables. Suddenly my speakers and amp sounded just right. Beforehand I tried for months to get the sound right but was never successful. Sold the ...

Help with Wadia 9 and 270 upgrade
Hi Steve, thanks for your advice. The Wadia’s are connected with a nameless power cord into a toroid ISB 060 (I have the 100 upstairs for a very near future switch). The nameless cord just works, it sparkles. I tried several. The ISB 060 cleans th...
Have you ever downgraded deliberately?
Well my system changed somewhat due to some components were away for mods. Bought a D1200 on the cheap. Great component, but definitely beneath my regular setup. Nostalgia indeed. Another great lesson and tons of fun
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
@erik_squires thanks for the radio tip. I will check it out!
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
@erik_squires I had a very weird experience last weekend. My friend has a DIY dac. In it was a NOS TDA1543 Philips chip hooked on a  a Rasberry pi with i2s. It could only play 16/44. The power supply was a very cheap phone charger with an extra us...
Some components too old now?
@vinyloidStick to your current dac. There is always something better out there. But you have avoided the merry-go-round for a really long time. Keep doing it!I myself am a CD nut as well. I get so much joy buying new and 2nd hand. Totally great. I...
Have you ever downgraded deliberately?
The seller was displaying them with a Jadis MC80 Preamp and also a Jadis power amp. He also had JCAT monoblocks laying arround and e-mailed me later that the sound was even better with them. A tube lover as yourself Lou.Thanks for your input
