Very interested Baetis Audio conversation with John Mingo on the fence
How far of how did?  Sound card from PC has SPDIF output, Heos Link was the other SPDIF source.  SPDIF cables (AQ) were 2m, USB cable (WW) is 1M, all similar price nothing fancy (AQ cables $80, WW USB $100.)
I'm ready to pull the trigger on some new speakers.looking for some last minute advice
I have the Aria 936 and I am very happy with them, paired with a Primaluna HP tube amplifier w/KT150s - 90+ watts/channel.  Similar size room as yours, speakers are 8' apart and 11' from listening position.Listened to the cm 10s and Sonus faber an...

cerrot, I did in direct comparison to USB.  In my system, USB sounds slightly but noticeably better, especially on vocals compared to the other 2 SPDIF connections/inputs.  Maybe the cables (can't believe I'm even thinking this) Audioquest cinnamo...
Music server
Bob, if you have an Ipad or Chromebook or Android tablet (anything that has Chrome installed) you can run the Google Remote Desktop app, works wonderful.  I run this on my Ipad and Chromebook and can control the Win10 music PC remotely.
Is it in my head only?
improvement on sound quality is probably in your head, but going to a non-ISP provided router you get better quality and definitely decrease in drop outs, better wi-fi coverage, etc.

Interesting as this weekend we have been experimenting with different output connections to find what "sounds best."  SPDID out of a PC, USB out of laptop, SPDIF from another media server source, Toshlink from different PC.All going into McIntosh ...
Best significant upgrade? Dac? Preamp?
thanks for the feedback, contemplating between mini, auralic, and Bluesound..
Best significant upgrade? Dac? Preamp?
C_S, is your USB input on your DAC asynchronous?  Auralic doesn't have USB out if I remember correctly, wondering why going Digital USB from the Mini to Digital coax/toshlink from the Auralic would make such a difference.  Thanks
Power On Power Off
I'm also interested in this question.  Might want to move it to the Amp-preamp section to get some replies.
Why does my 35 watt tube amp draw 300 watts of power
I have a Dialogue premium HP, 85-90W/channel and 540 Watts consumption (max.)  Like you said, love it, not going back to Solid State.Cost wise, running the amp at full consumption for 2 hours each day costs $.09/day or about $3/month.  In reality ...
Alternatives to Rogue Stereo 100
I really, really love the Primaluna Dialogue HP amp with KT150s.  Bought it used from a member here for little more than your budget.  Not many used for sale though..
Gain Structure help, Mcintosh D100 to Primalune tube amp
Another info that I found, but I am not following; The more astute of you may be thinking as you read that, ‘hang on, this sounds more than a little like a Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus and the last time I checked, that was a good deal less than th...
Gain Structure help, Mcintosh D100 to Primalune tube amp
Looks like they both perform the same function.  If I set the volume with the knob at 30%, then use the remote to reduce it to 20%, then go back at the knob the volume is at 20%.unless I misunderstood, it seems to me both knob and remote do the sa...
Gain Structure help, Mcintosh D100 to Primalune tube amp
Thanks so much George, this is interesting, I'll test tonight.  I'm almost certain though that the remote's VC and the knob act the same, just by judging at the percentage of volume shown.I'll check it out and thanks again.
Gain Structure help, Mcintosh D100 to Primalune tube amp
Hi George,I spoke with Ron at Mcintosh, and he said they are using an analog volume control and there is no bit stripping or any advantage to try to attenuate the output of the unit.  Essentially my range is up to 50-55% (hard to tell with the Pri...
