PSVANE 12Au7 12At7 12Ax7 "-T MKII" 2020 production run of small signal/driver tubes
Will throw in my 2 cents since I have dumped a lot of coin in TJ Full Music,  PSVANE and Shuguang pre and power tubes. When TJ Full Music valve were first released, they were one of the first Chinese tube brands to really look at construction mate...
Technics or Thorens, need suggestions
@ei001h,I think either table would work fine for you but think you are worried about the wrong component. Think you would be better off finding an outboard phono stage to use with either table. Nothing against the MAC, well made stuff, but many o...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB
@bob540, yes, did many parasounds fresh right out of the box, especially on their lower priced gear. Makes a notable step up in performance. Keep in mind these units are a great deal but are also under tremendous pricing pressure, so upgrading the...
is it possible to make digital audio sound like vintage vinyl
@guitarsam, yes quite easy. since storage is really inexpensive these days, I would toss FLAC and move towards compression free WAV. I have a small library of 24/96 WAV files. If you contact me off line, will be happy to snail mail you a stick ful...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB
@bob540, one other thought. Over the years, I have worked on quite  few of the parasound units. the zphono (and all  of the Z units) as well as the HCA and Halo models. All are pretty easy to get a lot more out of simply by upgrading the parts qua...
What Do You Think of This Device: Parasound Zphono-USB
storage is pretty cheap now, so why convert to flac? why not leave as wav?and if you are worried about meta data, you can add meta data to the wav files you created so your audio player will see them. best
Storing DSD/PCM files and playing through a DAC
@ milpai, what ever drive type you use, make sure you make a  back up copy of your files on another drive. The first time I did a digital library, it was great until the drive crashed.....without a backup,. you will have to re-rip everything....to...
Jadis Defy can't sing with super high Fidelity PART 2
@mozartfan, as long as you are going to all the effort, you want want to add the Shuguang western electric KT88 plus to your tube list. I have tried just about every 6550 and KT88 made including NOS, and the new Shuguang is now my fav 6550/KT88 tu...
Tubes used in VTL 6.5 II preamp?
believe the factory installed tubes are JJs. Dont have the 6.5 but do have the 7.5. You may want to try installing some PSVANE T-IIs. most open and 3-D tube I have tried so far.
Why no interest in reel to reel if you're looking for the ultimate sound?
@orpheus10    +2 on agreement with @sdrsdrsdr. look no further than all the prized tube microphones, tube mic preamps and tube playback electronics on the recording side.
What do you think causes the crackle and clicks we hear?
@tuberollin has a point. I have heard the impovement as well.but regardless, still need to get the carbonate particles out of the  groove so the stylus can actually track the groove to much more information that is hiding in those grooves.
What do you think causes the crackle and clicks we hear?
@ mijostyn, no worries. I used to think exactly the same; keep records from getting dirty in first place; be super anal about not letting anyone else handle them, etc. That was key to clean records. But now realize that is not the case. The partic...
Latest Psvane WE300B-Plus Tubes - Any Feedback?
can't say anything about the WE 300B, but the WE KT88s are excellent. they are my favorite KT88 now. very organic sounding.
Why no interest in reel to reel if you're looking for the ultimate sound?
I would agree with @orpheus10 , In  general modern tube gear is usually more realistic than modern SS gear. On older SS and Tube gear, they both impart their own sonic signature on any signal they pass through. I do live to 2 track acoustic record...
What do you think causes the crackle and clicks we hear?
@mijostynIf I could post photos I would, I have over 300 JPG files of groove images and all show carbonate in the bottom of the groove. so not sure what grooves you have looked at. All I am doing is trying to remove some of the mystery behind LP...
