Greetings Mario, fellow adventurer down the Audio Path and fellow amateur historian/archaeologist. Thanks for the kind words.Time to address some of the usual misleading and distorted postings out there, provoked by the Preview, and to learn somet...
Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot II
Hi Grant: the post Audiogon found so nice, they posted it twice! I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a bar up in the A'Gon control room ;-). Thanks for stepping forward with corroboration of that amazing experience a while back, offering a wind...

Hi David, I wish!! The whole thing, as written in the article, was Bob's idea, and for that I thank him deeply, as should you all, as an Ambassador/Product of Da Thread will be sent out for Official Recognition!! Celebrate!!! When Bob, who isn't a...

Hmmm....everyone seems to be sleeping, so I'll jump in. The motor voltage is strictly a matter of wiring: make sure the AC goes to positions 1 and 4 on the barrier strip at the back of the motor, and the switch to positions 2 and 3. Look under my ...

I got my top-plates from Reinderspeter, beautiful work Peter!! Won't be working with them until late summer though, as currently I am swamped, and then I'll be out once again somewhere on the globe, perhaps having some Lenco adventures, as some of...
Transcriptor-Skeleton-Turntable-Asking 4 opinions?
Actually, have to disagree there: the Transcriptors Skeleton is a brilliant belt-drive, and sounds better than it has any right to, even given its striking appearance. But the Vestigal tonearm is ultra low-mass, and consequently needs high complia...

Hi Helen, great to hear from you again, and that you are hearing the Lenco again! The magic of it never ceases to astound me, and I've lived with it for nigh-on two decades now, now THERE's value for money :-)!Oops, and great news on the marble pl...
Running for Dummest question EVER
Do you mean even smaller than the less-than 400-700 nanometers already achieved by the average LP? Ultra-high resolution is already a fact of vinyl pressings, since the quoted figures are those of the wavelength of visible light, and the grooves o...

She's a beauty Peter, and I REALLY love that green!! Knowing how subtle and all I am ;-). Also love to see that familiar-homey birch-ply/MDF layering, so dependable. Beautiful accurate work as always, you should have been a watch-maker..or are you...
Has anyone heard the Denon 103-SA?
Hype is not always untrue ;-). The extra $500 is for the colour "blue", and well worth it in my estimation, as it will lend the 103 a tad more coolness to temper it's fiery character :-).

Just a reminder to budding DIYers and the curious, though it's true that a Lenco can be brought to unimaginable (and as-yet unmeasured) heights by going to various extremes, let's not forget that the success of the original thread was due to the M...
Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
Yes, it's heartbreaking that people go to the trouble to write this sort of tripe, and it's double-heartbreaking they come over to an analogue/vinyl forum to do so. Read this, it may help you develop an ear for music, if such things are the result...
Thorens 124/125/126 vs Rega P3/MMF-5
Pauly, if you haven't heard any "antique 'tables" which can rate, then you haven't heard any which are properly set-up. As for the TD-124, either you hadn't the knowledge to properly set it up, or the skill, or were too prejudiced to give it a ser...

Hi Michael, if you can't adjust the speed properly at the brackets, then you need to go further into the machine and adjust at the joint which shifts the idler-wheel assembly. This is the circular bit with two screws which pivots around a nut and ...
Thorens 124/125/126 vs Rega P3/MMF-5
Hi Chris, the TD-124 is actually a quasi-idler-wheel drive, being an idler driven by a belt. It is immeasurably better than a TD-125 once mounted to a solid plinth, and can indeed duke it out with some very serious belt-drives. The MKI has an iron...
