Midifying a UK 240Vac/50Hz Thorens TD160 BC MkII to US 115Vac/60hz usage? Not knowing the turntable: The motor is most likely a synchronous motor made to run at 50 or 60 Hz., 220 Volts. You will either need to replace it with a 120 Volt or use a stepup transformer. If it is a belt drive, the motor pulley needs to be rep...
Why would the digital optical output from my CD player be louder than that of my streamer? A WAG. 16 bit depth verses 14 bit depth from the streamer.
Neutral Dac? As jerrybj said Soekris 2541. Look under the hood of the Denifrips DACs. There sits a Soekris DAC!
DACs that do well without a preamp Soekris dac2541. It uses an internal headphone amp as the line driver amp selectable on the front panel. I'm using it to drive an old Threshold amp through a 10k Ohm pot. Works very well.
Listening notes on Soekris 2541 DAC and Bricasti M3 DAC My understanding of a balanced DAC: It uses four D/A converters. Two for each channel. Within the channel, one DAC is used with a one sign bit and the other is used with a zero sign bit. The DAC outputs are summed together. In other words the two ...
Panasonic DVD BluRay or Cambridge CXC Transport I think you will be happy with the CXC. I have had mine for several years. It sounds better using my YGGY as the converter than my old Sony CDP xa20ES optical output. My only complaint is the display has become to dim to read in the daylight.
New Project RS2T transport Robert. You made the right decision on a third Project unit. I always noticed what I termed a third harmonic distortion on loud passages of certain CD’s. Example: Rippingtons "Buit To Last" Firefly. On loud passages could always hear an edginess w...
Has anyone had on of these CD players? How good are they? I still have an old Sony XA20ES that still works like new. It is in a secondary system at present, so doesn’t get used every day. It has a drawer, but the whole laser drive and table drive are in a slide out assembly. It takes a puck on top of the...
New Project RS2T transport Robert, Hopefully your retailer will open the box and check the unit out, with your permission of course. At least they can be sure they are sending you a working unit. The longevity of this unit will be tested with me, as I use it daily. We shal...
New Project RS2T transport I have an old Lambda LG531 20 volt linear regulated power supply waiting in the wings to power the RS2T. Ordered a couple of mini XLR connectors to interface with the player. I want to wait the full 60 days of the return policy before connecting t...
New Project RS2T transport RobShaw. Received my RS2T Thursday. The Bad: I could hear something rolling around before I opened the box. Opened the top on the RS2T and surprise, there is a long screw rolling around in the unit. Found its resting place, - one of the screws tha...
New Project RS2T transport Robshaw. Mine was shipped today from TMR. I will let you know about the puck. My Sony ES player uses the same setup. It does set on the disk to clamp it to the spindle. Does your spindle have the rubber clamp gasket that sits on the top?
dissapointing experience with Project CD Box RS2T Transport Will do Charles. Yes. RS2T. TMR Audio told me that Project was a little slow on deliveries due to extensive testing of the RS2T. Sounds like they are serious about their quality control.
dissapointing experience with Project CD Box RS2T Transport I hope Project has tightened up their quality control, as I have one on order. Poor quality has killed many companies.
Best integrated amps If you can swing $600, get a Denon PMA-2000. The original. It has a light gold color anodizing. A great amp in my opinion. This amp will pretty much drive any speaker, and won't need a rebuild. |
