The magic of outdoor listening I put my tube amps and source on a rolling stand so I can move it in and out of the garage, same with speakers I make sure it's set up in the shade.
Thermal Distortion your loudspeaker most likely suffers from it. But do you care? The overpowering demag was mostly or only affecting a few JBL models when the switch was made from low tube power to higher power SS in PA use it is not an issue for other alnico magnet drivers. But it is still passed around as affecting all Alnic...
The magic of outdoor listening Wow so many think they know my living situation. One asshat says it's wrong to listen outdoors but is a shooter I wonder if he cares about the noise when he's shooting, another thinks I'm rude and selfish for playing a bit of music on my large pro...
The magic of outdoor listening I have no neighbors when I play outdoors only those driving near my home would hear it I am very considerate and those saying otherwise are just the types that kick kids off their lawns.
High sensitivity bookshelf speakers to pair with SET amp? Nearfield romanticism. SET can be wonderful with large easy-to-drive horns or large full-range driver systems. I have pass gear, first-watt gear and SET as well as other amplifiers when using SET you need to greatly consider associated loudspeakers to get the best resul...
Dipole speakers, subwoofers and that rear wall I designed my dual 21" woofer OB to function as a rear-loaded horn by incorporating the boundary reinforcement generated by near-wall placement works wonderfully.
High sensitivity bookshelf speakers to pair with SET amp? Nearfield romanticism. Hofmann's Iron Law three parameters that cannot all be had at the same time. They are low-bass reproduction, small (enclosure) size, and high (output) sensitivity." Hofmann stated that designers could pick two of these three parameters, but in do...
Do you spend more time analyzing the sound of your system, worrying it could be better? I design audio products so I have to do a lot of analytical listening. But I know when I have it right because I will just enjoy the performance without focusing on anything but the music. If I stay in analytical mode I know it's time to make a ch...
Speakers: Anything really new under the sun? The slim floorstander is a cludge the baffle is too small so they require BSC in networks.Woofers to small so they require multiple, most need porting and high excursion transducers, and high power to function well. They exist because they are che...
Thermal Distortion your loudspeaker most likely suffers from it. But do you care? Pannels don't suffer from it but they have their own design limitations related to limited excursions, dipole effect cancellations, beaming, and pannel size reducing higher frequency. Nothings perfect.

Dynaudio customer service ignoring me You can find a woofer from another company that would do the same work. Less of a difference in similar quality transducers than you think.
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much? Thought this was an audio forum. So here is an audio answer. The small manufacturers still offer great deals search them out.

Does Formula 1 racing and high end audio go together for anyone else? Great sound doesn’t just make music better it makes movies sports TV gaming etc all more enjoyable. When you watch racing you want to hear it. One reason why I enjoy vintage racing is the sound. Give a listen to the Beast of Turin sometime. |
