Can't balance arm with Tecnoweight
I set set the dial at 3.5, so that's not the issue.I keep wondering if my cartridge is installed properly. I set it up using the single-point rega protractor, and it sits about 1mm beyond the arm. I thought that that extra weight out front could b...
Tube pre amp with phono stage and remote
Audio Mirror PP1 -- Well under your budget ($1600 new, usually $750 used) with an excellent phono stage.
Rega P5 Benz Micro Glider, Ace, or Stay w/Exact?
Your P5 is quite worthy, as Miner42 points out. I use an Ace on my P25. It's a very nice combination. It requires a 2mm spacer under the arm. I can't comment on how it compares to the Exact or Glider.
SOTA Comet --- Opinions please.
I owned one for about six months. It sounded good and was a step up from the Music Hall MMF-5 that it replaced, although I prefer the Rega P-25 that I now own.For what's it's worth, here's why I got rid of the Comet. It had nothing to do with perf...
EAR 834P or Quad QC24 w/ phono
Well, that's two votes for a tube phono directly into the amp/active speakers. I guess that I'll also have to consider the QC-24P, in addition to the EAR. It's considerably more $$$ and rarely available used, but it might be worth the look.I think...
connecting a sub to Rotel Rx1050
You are starting with an excellent system. My first system was almost exactly as yours: Rotel RCD-1072, Rotel RX-1050, and B&W CM4 speakers (full range, so no need for sub). Great synergy.
Migration to Seperates
This sounds like a good plan. Please report back after hooking up the tubes. I'm also thinking about adding a tube pre and using the amp section of my integrated (at least until I can afford a new amp), so I'd like to hear your impressions.
Migration to Seperates
Regarding your second question, Jimmy: yes, you are right. remove the jumpers, which act as cables between preamp and power amp, and then run a cable from the tube preamp into the amp-in connector on your integrated.Doing this will will allow you ...
Migration to Seperates
Running a tube preamp into the amp section of your integrated should give you a taste of what a tube preamp might do, even if, as Judsauce points out, it might not show you how good separates can be.To do this, connect the tube preamp to the MAIN ...
Integrated amp with phono section for Totem Arro
I enjoy my Lehmann Black cube. It's the old version without the upgraded power supply. And for ~$250 used, I think it's a great bargain. It easily beats the phono section in my Rotel receiver, which isn't all too bad itself. More detail, better so...
Integrated amp with phono section for Totem Arro
An afterthought: I see an $800 Unico listed (now marked as sold), but it doesn't have the phono stage. If this is the one you purchased, what do you plan to do about your turntable?
Integrated amp with phono section for Totem Arro
Congratulations. I've heard great things about the Unico. And for $800... nice.
How Many Turntables Have You Owned
Two years into vinyl, I've owned three turntables. First was Music Hall MMF-5. Then a Sota Comet III w/ RB300. I now use a Rega P25.
Installing Origin VTA on P25
Too eager to wait for an answer to my question, I put my dremel tool to work the P25. My inclination was correct. After lightly sanding the arm hole, the VTA adjuster slid right into place. My anxiety over permanently altering the plinth aside, in...
