Why so many Vandersteens for sale? I think it's just because there are quite a few of them out there. I also notice that many people (myself included) tend to upgrade to a better Vandersteen model at a later time. I'm selling my 3A's because they are a little big for my room. I sti...
Interconnect with good bass You might want to try this company called 'the cable company'. I know some people who have had good dealings with them. They buy and sell used + new cables. They also have a big database of cables for system matching. Johnl.
Sony CDP XA7ES Yup. I find that too. The CD puck gets a little warm. If you have not already done so, try the player through it's variable outs. Very nice.
UPS COD, Prepare to WAIT About two weeks from delivery is what I have seen. My question is : Why does it take 3-5 days for a large package to get there, and 14 days for an envelope ? I have also recently experienced UPS doing some minor damage to some equipment I shipped....
Recommendations: poor college kid; NAD? heh heh, heh heh... he he said NAD.... Seriously, you can't go wrong with their equipment. Also check out parasound, adcom, sonographe (my fav), and rotel. The adcom 555mark2 is a really nice amplifier. That stuff goes for 100-300 per component, a...

Sensitive ears to speakers. Help!!! You have what is commonly known as Theil's syndrome. Take two vandersteens and call me in the morning (if you get up by then).
Cheap Tweeks 0) Listening to a stereo at a suburban-hell stereo super store. 1) Moving your speakers out into the the room (free), 2) Raising your speaker cables off of the floor using wood blocks or foam cups, 3) Twining your power cables together and running...

Vandersteen 2ce vs. Meadowlark Kestrel I have a/b compared the two, and much preferred the vandersteen 2ceSignatures. The meadowlarks are smaller and shorter which would give them a higher WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). The 2's are great because you really can't make them sound bad. The...
Worst Audio Injury !! I accidentally brushed my hand against the test resistor while biasing my tube amp. 420 Volts. Been awake ever since ! Worst audio setup experience was carrying set of boxed vandersteen 3s into the house and up a flight of stairs!
Need help choosing a receiver... I think the Denon's have superior sound to the other mass market receivers. I would go with the 3300. If you can live with simple surround sound verses dts, you can pick up a used denon 5600 for a good price. That will give you more power and feat...
Best CD Player for under $750? I think your best value would be the adcom 750. Those go for around 700-750 used. Modern design, under a year old, an d the support HDCD. I thought the adcom sounded great. I also agree on the older Sony's. Good sound, and outstanding build qualit...
Audio Physic Virgo Solid State Amps ? I'm getting very good sound with the vt100m2/virgo's. I'm just consolidating my THREE stereo systems to ONE (maybe two :>), and it makes sense that that one be solid state since it will be on quite a bit. My house looks a little too much like a...
Amplifier Suggestions? I third the McCormack amp for solid state. It's a good match. For tubes in that price range, the vtl ST-85 and IT-85 are excellent matches. Someone is selling an ST-85 on audiogon for $1000. |
