Power Cords Snake Oil ??
"Audioengr stated that from his experience, correct design or modification of power supplies greatly reduces power cord colorations"I think that most people who examine the SimAudio P-5 power supply would consider it a state of the art piece, hous...
Confused by Dynaudio specs.
I have the Dynaudio Contour S3.4's which are rated in the 35hz area for bass frequencies. However when I measured them they went down below 20hz when driven by a 400wpc (into 4ohms) amplifier.
Classe/Plinius Observation
Dynaudio's mate very well with SimAudio gear, give the I5 a listen if you're set on an integrated. I'm running their top of the line pre-amp and Titan amplifer; couldn't be happier with the sound coming from my Dynaudio S3.4's.
Dynaudio S3.4
Absolutely love the sound of the S3.4's, dynamic as all get out, very musical, surprisingly powerful bass response, I've measured it down to 20hz, even though it's only rated in the mid 30's. Associated Equipment: SimAudio P5 pre-amp, SimAudio Tit...
Enough to drive the dynaudio s3.4
Having gone from driving my S3.4's at 225wpc into 4ohms to driving them at 400wpc into 4 ohms, I can tell you that you will get a big performance jump in bass response, and overall I feel they are a much more dynamic speaker with the more powerful...
transport recommendations
It's kinda tough to justify spending money on a dedicated transport when your DVD player costs $2K. However, I do want to get the most out of my new DAC (Tri-Vista 21) so I've been looking around. What I've found is new transports are cost prohibi...
SACD 2 channel vs Redbook 2 Channel
I've been very impressed with SACD on my Denon 5900, and it's certainly been better than redbook in direct comparisons, however, with my Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista DAC arriving on Friday, that may just even the playing field, or push redbook ahead...
Down to the Final Two -- Dreadnaught vs. Titan
I was also considering a Dreadnaught vs Titan delema. I ended up with the Titan, and have been very pleased so far. It's no where near broken in yet, but even post break-in sounds wonderful. Very detailed, lush, and musical. The Dreadnaught had mu...
Simaudio Titan 5-channel or 3 Silver NAD S200 amp
Got the Titan beast yesterday. Oh my! So that's what Dynaudio's can sound like when feed a magnificent 400wpc. I'm in sonic heaven :)
Simaudio Titan 5-channel or 3 Silver NAD S200 amp
I started with a B&K Reference 5-ch amp, then moved into a Plinius 8200 2-ch + AVA 240/3 3-ch, then went to a combo of the AVA 240/3 and AVA Fet-Valve 350EX 2-ch hybrid tube, and then went with a Butler 5150 5-ch hybrid tube. A good deal came ...
Simaudio Titan 5-channel or 3 Silver NAD S200 amp
My Titan should be arriving early next week. I'm really curious how this beast will sound with my setup. I've gone through a number of amps in the past 2 years, and I'm hoping this one will be the one that completely satisfies :)
Review: Dali Euphonia MS4 Speaker
"What's important to note is that I hear everything that I enjoy and respect about the Dyns, but executed on a new level in the Dali's."I was so afraid you'd say something like that. But I've promised myself to stick with the Dyn's for at least a ...
Review: Dali Euphonia MS4 Speaker
My dealer has also fallen head over heels in love with the Dali line of speakers, and he has been a diehard Dynaudio fan for many years. The MS4's sound impressive, but as you noted, they are more in line with the 5.4's as a peer product. The othe...
Upgrading: What to use with Dynaudio 3.3's?
I've had Dynaudio's mated with AVA gear and they drove them to perfection. You can get the Transcendence 7 pre-amp and Fet-Valve 550 EX amp for your stated budget, new. I doubt you'll find anything more dynamic in your price range.
Review: Dynaudio Contour S3.4 Speaker
All's I can say is thank you Mfish for turning me on to this speaker. As I re-read your review I now had sonic memories of the past week's experience to compare with yours. Dead on my friend! There was a moment last night with a tenor sax playing ...
