| Mcintosh C 220 pre amp tube life.... You should be able to get 10,000 hours out of a set of healthy tubes. If you want to be conservative you could change them at 6,000-8,000 hours. Just keep a spare pair on hand in case one dies early. | |

| Spectron Musician III MK.2 or Audio Research DS450 I've had the Spectrons and would love the hear the DS450. From reports of others who have the Audio Reseach DS450, I bet the DS450 is a little warmer. Probably closer to my preference. | |
