PSB Stratus Mini's
I have a pair and think they are excellent speakers. They have been well reviewed over the years. They image well, have great bass for their size, and have excellent highs without being bright. Same tweeter as the Stratus gold. (3/4" instead of 1")...

Another sign SACD is dying
I have embraced the SACD format and am using a Marantz SA12-S1. I do think it sounds better than redbook, and I am pleased at the new titles that are coming out. Elusive Disc has 20 something pages of SACDs and it is increasing all the time. Many ...
How Long Has This Been Goin' On - what artists?
I can't imagine it as a rock song. It was done by Karrin Allyson on her In Blue cd. She is a jazz singer, though. It was written by George and Ira Gerhwin... at least her version. John Dean
Polk Audio LSi 15 - are these the REAL DEAL ???
I have auditioned the Polk Audio Lsi-15 speaker and agree that it is a great speaker. I have not always understood the bashing of Polk. I bought the Polk Monitor 10B in 1980 and it still sounds very good today. Robert Reina of Stereophile rated th...
Could some one explain how to buy best cables?
I would buy Kimber Kable Hero interconnects and Kimber Kable 8VS speaker cables and forget about it. They are inexpensive, sound good, and your done. That's what I did. Then, upgrades can be elsewhere...or enjoy the music. John Dean

I'm a physician-internal medicine for 25 years. Most people in the field (ENT, Audiology)agree that sound levels over 85 dB for prolonged periods adversely effect hearing. That data also comes with many spl meters. Lots of people in their 60's and ...
whats your idea of loud music.
I have Marantz Reference Sm-17 amps bridged for 200watts/channel running moderately sensitive PSB Stratus Bronzes. I have never turned them up much past 1/4 turn and try to run them below an SPL of 85 dB to preserve hearing, but that is usually pl...

Marantz Player Question
I have had a Marantz SA-12S1 for two years but only use it for 2-channel sacd and cd. This summer the main board went out and it wouldn't read sacd's or cd's. I took it back to Sound One in Asheville, NC and Marantz kept it 4 weeks but it now work...
What's your dirty little secret?
The Monkey's "I'm A Believer", Frankie Valli's "Walk Like a Man", Pablo Cruise's "Ocean Breeze", Kitty Kalen's "Little Things Mean Alot", the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City" and Sam Cooke's "You Send Me". John

Thanks to all and for the other ECM trio suggestion. John
King of the Hill
Thanks,Nrchy. I have copied your post to hang on my amplifier and to read daily. It sounds like your opinion comes from pain and experience. There is ,however, no promise that pain and experience lead to contentment. My goal is to continue to be s...
