Acoustic Zen I'm using Absolute 75 (copper) 75 digital cables, and they are the best of a great many I've tried. But- cables are very system dependent, and it just may not be a good matchup for you. When I change gear, I often have to change cables 2 or 3 time...
Anyone listened to LaHave Speakers I've owned a pair for a couple of months. I've owned 30 pairs of $1500-5000 stand mounts over the years and these are the most expensive but also the best. Detailed, fast, yet with a real musical tonality, very much as the others have reported.I u...
Recommed a medium sized monitors that can go loud Selah Audio Tempesta or Verita. Both very competitive with the best stand mounts at 2x the price, IMOj.
Any one try Event speakers? Yes, I owned a pair. I liked them quite a lot. Compared to the best stand mounts I've heard, they match up well, and for less $ when you consider the cost of a good amp. Not quite as transparent in the midrange as the best, and the tweeter has a t...
ADS 910 vintage speakers I've owned most of the larger ADS models. The 910 is a powerful speaker; sounding like a larger, more powerful version of the 710 and 810. Notably deeper, more powerful bass. Not as refined sounding as the later, larger models such as 1590 or 2030,...
Any Daedalus Muse owners.. Need feedback. Hi David,I can only offer a partial answer. My DA-RMAs did not have the poly crossovers, so I did the poly and the V2 at the same time. The focus and soundstage became much more open and clear, with greater transparency. It seemed to remove a lot o...
Any Daedalus Muse owners.. Need feedback. The DA-RMA actually morphed into the Athena. Lou said he wanted to duplicate the DA-RMA as closely as possible in a single box package. The Muse is similar, but does not use as expensive crossover parts as the poly and V2 versions of the pricier mo...
Is it nessasary to have a USB converter w/ NAD M51 Not necessary, but in my case using a Musical Fidelity VLink 192 did improve the sound a bit- smoother and quieter, by a small margin. I found the same to be true for my Eastern Electric Minidac plus.
Praise for excellent service from Oppodigital Yep, me too. I bought a used modded BDP-83 which stopped reading discs after a couple of years. Oppo determined the mods had messed up the transport and replaced the entire transport mechanism and charged me $79 including return shipping! When my $...
Totem Model 1 Both of those speakers have lively and somewhat elevated top ends, not warm and sweet. I've owned model 1 sigs and several MAs, but not that model. I'm not sure either are your cup of tea, but I love the imaging on the totems.
Nad m51 plug in computer vs cd transport I use a usb-spdif converter (Musical fidelity vlink 192) and it sounds terrific with my M51. other converters should also help. Look for dual oscillators and galvanic isolation.A good usb cable is also essential. Sound quality is better than any t...
Teton monitors from Wavetouch Audio - A Must Hear I had a pair for audition this summer. They are very good sounding- very uncolored, clear, open and dynamic, with a very big soundstage. Kind of odd looking. Very competitive with the best at their price range, imo. YMMV.
Best USB DAC for under $1000 Used Yulong Sabre DA8. I just got one and it is very nice indeed. It easily surpassed my Dexa'd Eastern Electric minimax plus, and is real competition for my NAD M51. Plus- it has an analog input, a nice headphone amp, and volume control- in other...
ps audio hdmi cables Can't speak for PS Audio, but my recent experience with Monoprice (quite nice, and very cheap), Wireworld Starlight 6 (similar to Ultraviolet 7, I think), and Apollo AV Lightning is that they do look different and sound different. The Apollo and t...
Best Cheap Speakers - New or Old Floorstanders: JBL L-100T or L-80T, ADS L710,L810, L1090 or L-1290. Best "big sound" for the $. Spica TC-50 or 60, Tyr Rauna or AAD Silver for standmounts. |
