DIY A Roon Core for < $500
Hello ,Thanks for sharing. How is this better or different than a NUC?  Basically less expensive or does it also have better features?
Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
@lalitk I very much enjoy looking at your system and how it evolves over time. I know how much thought goes into it and that your amp is $20k not $6K :). You have helped me out getting my streaming SQ up significantly over the last year and helped...
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else
Hi @opm I think the Pass Labs X250.8 / AR 5SE combo might work very nicely for you. I had the exact set up. Very airy, pungent and natural sound. Not too sweet. I don’t like too sweet either. The X250.8/XP-22 was a great combo as well, but if I wa...
Holographic, 3D Solid State Amp under $6k
I’ve had the XP22 and X250.8 combo. I drove Salon2 speakers and Focal Diva utopia with this gear and (although I did need to turn it up a bit like 60/70) did not experience any of other the problems mentioned. If you call Pass directly, they are v...
Need New 2 Channel System for under 25K
Well, its been a fun ride but we finally completed the system earlier this month. Paradigm Persona 3F, Simaudio Moon 340ix, Auralic Aries G2. Very happy with the performance in that office.
Envy audio cables
I have had very good experience with Audio Envy in my system.
Killer used integrated for
When you say 'killer', if you mean decent 2 channel integrated, then consider the Cambridge Audio Azur 851A. I've seen them used for $500.  Good luck
Point of higher priced streamer?
OP, Steamer upgrades made a difference in my system. My A/B testing were double blind with friends as test subjects. I used to be a skeptic about streamers - trying to understand how a streamer could possibly make a difference above and beyond Son...
What's my ideal music server? Read and recommend please
@cerrot I have experienced the same as you describe, even coming out of the N10, my COAX sounds better to me than USB.However, I do know a couple of serious people who use USB and find it superior. I believe much of preference has to do with which...
What's my ideal music server? Read and recommend please
My experience with the N100C has been really good. I used the Coax out because I had a good Coax cable and it sounded terrific in my system.Currently, I have the N10 and absolutely love it, but it was not as much of an upgrade as some would think,...
solid state power amps
Depending on the hum, yes, it could be transformer or ac line noise.  One is cheaper to resolve then the other.   I would call Victor or Steve at BAT. Have them give you some suggestions. Good Luck!
Please help: best streaming solution for McIntosh Stack.
If you want to be able to store files on the music server, take a look at the Aurender N100C (with Coax and USB outs)  for around that price. I had a really good experience with it sound and workability wise.  It can also interface with NAS and ex...
Music streamers
+1 Aurender. I’ve had the N100C. IMHO - It was an excellent sounding and functioning streamer. I recommend it highly.OP - depending on your set up, you should be able to derive better performance with a dedicated/quality steamer.  Aurender should ...
Focal Kanta 2 vs Revel F228Be
I am on the same track with @kw6 . I’ve auditioned both the Kanta 2 and F228Be in the past. They are both nice (don’t get me wrong). But I think your awesome electronics can command higher fidelity speakers.  Focal Scala, come to mind for your roo...
Will streaming ever be "audiophile-worthy"?
Many people still enjoy the ritual of cleaning and turning over records, as well as switching cds in players, but being able to stream most music ever made in the world 'at-will' is hard not to get used to.
