A Little Hypocrisy?
Certain people have no problem purchasing a $100 bottle of wine and drinking it out of a cheap 6 oz wine glass. If you tell them it would show much better in a nice 18 oz. $25 crystal Reidel they get upset and say why should I spend $25 for a wine...
Loudspeakers that match well w/Bryston B-60?
I would definitely check out the PMC line of loudspeakers. These are designed to mate specifically with Bryston electronics.
SACD - M. Davis - So What
Wow Chuck! I can't believe that the only cd's you are purchasing are SACD. Doesn't this limit your choice of selections? I like SACD, but I place the selection of titles and artists far ahead of format. Also, what type of redbook player are you us...
Help Amp Repair: California
I would definitely contact Brooks Berdan. He is located in Sounther California (Monrovia) and runs a first class operation with a very impressive track record in the industry.
Here, there a Chick, Where else a Chick Corea ?
Many great Chick albums.....check out Three Quartets (1981 release) with Eddi Gomez, Michael Brecker and the one and only Steve Gadd. Some of Chick's newer releases are very good as well. Chick Corea New Trio / Past, Present, & Future......and...
Minimonitor Choice: Proac 1sc vs. Totem Model 1s
The ProAc 1SC's are very neutral and critical regarding what you feed them. Cheap CD players or amps will not allow the 1SC to shine. I have auditioned many monitors including the Totems and ended up with the ProAc's. I have not heard another moni...
What's your favorite speaker finish?
Thanks for the great website Ed. Glad to see I am not the only one who would chose black as a last choice. Although on the right speaker (Wilson) black lacquer is beautiful. Flat black or black ash is another story.....
What's your favorite speaker finish?
Wow....wasn't expecting so many responses. The reason I created this thread has to do with the fact that I like many of the finishes available. I am waiting to receive a pair of ProAc's in Yew which should be interesting. According to many Yew alo...
BAT or Levinson
I owned a ML 331 and although it was a very nice amplifier, I found it to be a bit dry and somewhat sterile than my Audio Research VT-50 or VT-100. If you are going to go with Levinson I would recommend the 334 which replaced the 331 a few years b...
Singer Songwriter John Mayer
"Insider Wants Out" is John Mayer's first 1999 independent release and as Tim explained is the more acoustic side of John. The album has been avaliable on his web site and is now in the stores (bought it at Tower for $8.99) Several songs are on hi...
Audio as a hobby

Audio as a hobby
Rbirke, Curious....Are your racquets all made of wood?
Audio as a hobby
I have been lucky enough to race on several teams that have been sponsored by various bike companies. Case in point, I am now on my 12th frame. I started on steel when I was a junior (loved my Eddy Merck) and continued to ride steel on and off unt...
Audio as a hobby
I should add that although I view audio as being a passive hobby....I don't consider myself a passive listener. Sure, I have music going in the house almost all the time, but there are those moments when I do listen critically.Clueless...good to s...
Audio as a hobby
I definitely view audio as a passive hobby. I ride and race my road bike roughly 300 + miles a week in the spring and summer, but look forward to fall and winter when I have more time to listen to music and play around with the system. Seems to wo...
