Which preamp to go with pass labs x150.8
depends what type of sonic signature you are seeking... everyone's 'best' is different
Dust Settled Consensus- is the Benchmark AHB2 an Audiophile Amplifier?
interesting perspective from uncle paul, which i tend to agree with... worth a watch, germane to this thread
Streamer advice
suggest you get the new node... not the older 2i - somewhat better sound quality and longer term reliability

op Sir, I can get one for 7k NIB from a dealer. That is part of why I posted this to begin with, but thank you. my point in putting that there (although it is deleted now) is to say that if you can buy a new one from a dealer for 7 grand, that...

In the end, the only thing that matters is do your brain pleasure centers light up when u listen to music. If they do then to hell with the measurements. I ain’t listening to measurements nor seeking audio jewelry in my stereo equipment. @jayma...
From an MHDT to an Audio Mirror, quick impressions
not surprised.... stock orchid with stock tube i assume? mhdt’s are very organic sounding, excellent dacs for the $ -- but could be improved in the speed, slam and frequency extension at the extremes ... but then again, as you said, given the pr...

Pass Then vs. Pass Now
@twoleftears in my 17x20 room, i have a listening triangle roughly 11 ft equilateral, i don’t listen real loud, rarely exceed mid 80’s db peak loudness in that context, with my mon 40’s all pass amps drove the speakers very satisfying for my li...

@gdnrbob i think some of the posters, including me, were a little mystified how you said that your system ran roon, and yet you didn’t need a roon core... now we understand... you have the zen mini and zenith, either of which can serve as the c...

i think these posts provide a useful perspective on dac choice, especially at a high level of cost and performance what does one want? do we want a dose of vacuum tube magic coming from the dac stage? are we prepared to, and do we welcome tube ro...
Pass Then vs. Pass Now
i think @liquidsound ’s post highlights a very important point and that is that amps of certain power levels do better or worse within some range in their power band -- for instance, using high efficiency speakers with paper cone drivers etc, ver...
