tube bias conundrum
i agree with the input from @carlsbad2 @decooney  op, i wasn't being derogatory about the 'chinese junk'... i was saying those tubes you have in hand were not quality controlled in a way to ensure you as the user/customer can use them in real...
DAC contest: Border Patrol Sei or Chord Qutest?
@jetter  I just think when a person relatively new to the hobby asks a question and a member inevitably comes on as all knowing, at least he should post pictures of his system so the noobie has an idea of his frame of reference. +100... spot o...
Tube microphonics
Just because a tube pings if you tap it does not mean it will sound bad. Mild microphonics is not a problem. I’ve heard tube trials where the best sounding tubes happen to be microphonic (the tubes were 310A’s). this is very true, and an import...

Tuneful Cables by High-End Audio
yes these are excellent, no nonsense, high value, high performing cables sweet sounding, slight dulling of the treble but they seem to preserve the 'atmospherics' well (imaging, scale etc) think of them as much more cost effective cardas golden ...
tube bias conundrum

dacs that I have had in my system - a listing

dacs that I have had in my system - a listing
Did you have something close to a control reference system you used to evaluate most of these or did you change speakers and amps too in parallel at times? Have you had a standard streamer to test them with or have your tried a bunch of those al...
Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?
@mahler123 seems to me that the provocateurs here don’t play by those rules, tit for tat is what they hope for, it gives them energy, sates their appetite for turmoil and vitriol for the rest of us, normal users here to be informed and entertai...
dacs that I have had in my system - a listing
I’d be curious to hear your impressions of the Van Alstine dacs. I’ve been wanting to experience one of their more recent offerings in my system at some point. Given your predilection for dacs with good output stages and attenuation, I was surpri...

top three (no order of preference) - i favor dacs with some linestage/volume control capability so i can go direct to power amp, and even better if streamer is onboard, and is a smaller form factor weiss 501 (utterly pure and incisive sound) and ...

i have two zenstreams that i use to do simultaneous feeds for dac comparisons i have had zero trouble with them, though I would add here that i am a roon user (with all other functionalities turned off), and i use a network feed via hardwire lan ...
