Optical vs Ultra Rendu.
imho the upgrade to the optical rendu is definitely worth it, it is a noticeable improvement in my system, to my ears
Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much?
as i see it there is definitely a proliferation of nosebleed priced gear by many makers... i think it is in response, predictably, to the emergence of top 1% ers in society ... if one looks in stereophile or tas the top categories seems to be excl...

Sad to say I need a new amp…
op the small totems are pretty revealing, so you shouldn’t cheap out on the amp - you have a good list i would add, potentially, a lower model hegel or the sony ta1-1es... lovely sound, modest price at the $1300-1700 price level
Best unplugged live
unplugged was, imo, one of the few redeeming offerings from mtv too bad it is no more, except for the occasional special i think one problem is that fewer and fewer pop - rock artists have the musical chops to do an unplugged performance (and it...
Does Anyone Buy Schiit for the Sake of Schiit?

Solid State Phono Stages
they are at a lower price level but my two faves, that i have kept after trying many over the years is the lehmann decade and the ayre px5e, wonderful sounding, dead quiet, adjustable, high gain i too prefer ss phono stages for the low hassle fac...
Montreal Audio Show - anyone hear the FR30’s?

Do larger planar speakers produce more accurate sound?
yes in theory as well as in practice, although care and quality in implementation matters much in each most importantly for me, the larger radiating surface gives a sense of ease in how the music is presented, it flows effortlessly, fills the spa...
Anyone else still loving Hales Speakers?
