Can I use integrated as standalone pre and/or amp? If the problem is in the preamp and if the difference in level between the two channels gets worse the lower you go I'd suspect that your volume pot is not tracking very evenly at low levels.
room dimention question As far as electrical goes I'd put in dedicated circuit breaker and wire just for your audio. I'd use the heavier gauge that is for 20 amp circuits and use a hospital or other specialty AC receptacle.
room dimention question My experience is that the first reflection off of the ceiling has a negative impact on the imaging. The best sounding room for me was a very high ceiling with a vault that is lowest on the speaker wall and goes up as it goes to the back wall. Won'...
How to wire my REL T7 to Audioengine A5's The spec's do not show the REL having any outputs. What is your source?BTW if the Speakon was an output you would still need a speaker level to low level adapter.
Cables to use with a KAB Subsonic filter? AS far as IC's, if you put it in the tape loop you can use whatever your preference is but if the KAB is put between the TT and the phono pre you will need to keep the cables as short as possible and use very low capacitance cables.
Low freq rumble, and using a KAB Subsonic filter. The KAB RF1 website states that you can put it in either place. I'd recommend the tape loop so that you can easily try it both in and out of the signal path. IMO if it eliminates the rumble problem but effects other areas of the music than you wil...
Listener fatigue: what does it really mean? Ears actually start to hurt. For me listener fatique has to do with how much information (distortion etc) that my ear/brain has to eliminate so that I can enjoy the music. A good example would be excessive volume which for me was to bring up the s...
When a Reviewer "likes" something What a reviewer likes means nothing unless, over the years, you find that you have the same tastes as they do. For me the only reviews that are helpfull, (when refering to sound quality), have references to other equipment that I myself am familia...
47 Labs phonocube, high gain vs low gain The "compatibility" paragraph on the 47 labs website implies that the regular would work best with most of the brands you mention as most of their models do not have extremely low output nor high internal impedence.
Best MC step up transformer I also have Bob's devices top of the line (with Cinemag 1131 tranny's) and it is far more transparent with a larger soundstage than any of the good SUT's that most build into their preamps.... Unfortunately you are going to find that some individu...
Power amp protection and filtering A regenerator is much more than a filter. It actually creates a whole new waveform so that your equipment does not have to deal with the voltage sag that happens near the peak of the sinewave. The big concern with regenerators is that you need a b...
hissing sibilants Actusreus,IME (as well as the MC industry) finding the optimum load is by far the most important for achieving best sound performance of a MC. You yourself have found this out when you optomized your Delos with 200 ohms.. BTW there are strong advo...
hissing sibilants IMBW but I believe that the spec you are quoting is refering to the ECP1's gain if the internal or "self" impedence of the MC is 10 ohms. They do not actually state what the input impedence of the ECP1 is when using the MC setting. Delos recommend...
Cartridge rings at certain high frequencies After listening to hundreds of brands as well as constructing and listening to close to 100 of my own IC's and speaker wire's I have not had any kind of ringing from the cables...... How many hours are on the needle? what do you use to clean it? H...
Cartridge rings at certain high frequencies Cables have arrows on them not because the music flows through them like water through a hose but because they tie the extra shield of the cable to the ground at one end only so that you can have them all "drain" to ground at one place. It's usual... |
