Classical Music for Aficionados
JCThanks for your thoughts I was starting to think I was alone in my musings about the state of music but I'm glad to see I am not. In my country when we go to a concert we are always "treated" to some new composition by some "clown" just out of c...

Because when the speaker was being made one of the wires could have been put on the crossover incorectly. These problems are not unknown.
Why does my DAC sound so much better after upgrading digital SPDIF cable?
You know I have no idea how I could possibly get to the end of this thread because of the utter rubbish that is being spouted. To the people who say that cables don't make a difference why don't you take all your cables that you have at the moment...

JC Thanks for those listings I'll certainly look into them. Isn't it strange though that Radu Lupu never became universally popular in the way Perahia and Brendel did. I think as a person he was quite insular and never pushed himself.

LenI agree wholeheartedly re, Arpegionne Sonata and with your thoughts regarding Schubert as a whole. When Arrau was interviewed once he was asked who was the most difficult composer to play and he instantly said Schubert and the interviewer said ...

Hi Len,I do agree with you about the Rubinstein Schubert and I would like to make a suggestion regarding D960, Arrau made a wonderful version of it perhaps even more Germanic than Rubinstein. He also played it with the long section in the first mo...

I agree wholeheartedly on the Liszt B Minor Sonata and think it was maybe the best Sonata from the 19th century and also that Liszt was probably the greatest example of piano playing during his lifetime and even now. He was responsible for the ach...

Is There a fix for CD Pin-holes (CD Rot)
What I would try if I were you is to get hold of DB Poweramp software and copy the discs that you can and make new discs with high quality blank discs and save what you can because you know they are only going to get worse so the sooner the better.

RV.I had time to do a comparison over the weekend of IDAGIO and QOBUZ streaming and I came to the conclusion that at conventional CD rates that it was swings and roundabouts , not one winning over the other. However when it came to higher rez file...
Recording streamed music off the internet onto C.D.?
Sound Tap is what many people use and it is a superb product and gives great results. It records from your desktop and can record up to 32 / 96.Recording from radio is illegal but who is to know if you don't tell anyone.
What are you streaming tonight?
At the moment I am streaming Jean-Eflam Bavouzet playing Mozart Piano concertos. He makes a really good job of them also.
