@jcazador    Hi Jeremy that was a very informative piece that you wrote about Godowsky . Have you got Constantin Scherbakov playing Godowsky's Baroque transcriptions on the Marco Polo label I love it, notably the Musette and Rondeau in E Major I f...

@rvpiano    I have just read your discourse on Bolet and I also love that you enjoyed the Carnegie Hall performance. When you consider who his teachers were it's a who's who of giants from the late 19th century. We have Moritz Rosentahl probably t...

Thats a great pity as he was a fantastic horn player. I had the privilege of hearing him in Glasgow many moons ago and he played Strauss and Mozart with great aplomb. He also was a very comic character.

@twoleftears      Have you got Francesco Piemontesi playing the Liszt Years of Pilgrimage First year Switzerland and Second Year Italy. I love them as he has a beautiful touch at the keyboard and the recitals are beautifully recorded. A couple of ...

I'm afraid the canes and walkers are commonplace at all classical concerts now. I hate to think what will become of our music when our generation dies out.
Backing up Roon database and library
I would also love to know how to successfully back up my Roon installation because I think I have done it properly and then I get a glitch on Windows and after doing a system restore the Roon information tells me of unknown artists and works and w...

@schubert     Definitely my most favourite symphonic piece by Rachmaninov, these pieces are so dynamic ,colourful and vibrant.
Has all decency left the entire planet?
There is now no shortage of deranged troglodytes going around, they have no sense or morals and they definitely should be jailed if caught.

@schubert         Len I share your views on Julia Fischer She shares a triumvirate I think with Maxim Vengerov and Leonidas Kavakos and I think those three reign supreme at the moment. Kavakos at the moment has a recording on Idagio of him playing...

@jcazador     Jeremy i used to love Nathan Milstein and back when I used vinyl I had the main violin concertos and the Bach Sonatas and Partitas and I just loved him. You are talking about the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto and the last time I heard ...

@schubert Len , I listened to the choir and yes it was a very refined and smooth sound. Brings back a whole lot of memories when my sister used to sing in the Arran choir back in the sixties and I used to go to their rehersals.
What is the best sounding Mahler symphony cycle?
@mahler123   Yes I did mean the Budapest band I find they are very light with the symphony which Mahler implied through Bruno Walter and the soprano they chose is suitably childlike in the last movement instead of the gargantuan warblers that some...
Revisiting some music from the past ...
Well said Rich and I for one totally agree except I listen to classical music. I think all composers after Shostakovich stink and yes I know I shall be shot down in flames by the minimalists but these are my thoughts and I am entitled to them as o...
What is the best sounding Mahler symphony cycle?
@mahler123If you are not impressed by Fischer's Mahler No 1 why don't you try his No 4 as this one is at the moment my favourite but stream it before you buy it as I hate to see people left with a CD that they now have as a coaster.

Sudbin has two discs of Scarlatti available but Iam sure any of the two are representative of his art. They are also very exhilarating.
