Help Chiro C-802, volume too small.....
Suggest you go to the source himself as it sounds like there's bad ju-ju going on. Tony's email address is krc2@earthlink.net. Good luck.
Help Chiro C-802, volume too small.....
Ysim, I remember your original post about the damaged C802 you received. Did you ever have it serviced? Sounds very similar to the original problem you described a month ago.
$6000 Budget Which used Amp ?
Mp is right. Give your Logans a listen with both solid state and high powered tube amps and hear the difference for yourself. They really open up with tubes. Tube amps are also better able to deal with the sometimes interesting impedance swings th...
What amp/preamp for ML Prodigy speakers
Have you considered tubes on top and solid state on the bottom? I'm using tubes on my CLS's and solid state for my subs with great results. I'm curious as to whether other Prodigy owners have gone this route, and with what results.
Vinyl in Vegas?
Spend your money at Glitter Gulch and you won't have to sweat the vinyl rip off. Thanks for the heads up, I'm heading to Vegas for a show later this month and will definitely seek non-vinyl entertainment. Well, maybe non-disc vinyl thrills.
Another Cryogenic Freeze Article HFNRR
Thanks, Albert. Given today's prices and scarcity of great NOS tubes like the Telefunken or Siemens 6DJ8's, I have no intention of experimenting with the cryo treatment. It is an interesting thought for lesser tubes, however. Maybe by the time *al...
Another Cryogenic Freeze Article HFNRR
Has anyone heard of the cryogenic freezing of *tubes*? Saw something about this recently -- Pearl Cryovac Electron Tubes. Do you think it is hoodoo, or voodoo?
who mfg valvo tubes?
I think Mazda produced some Valvo tubes, too. The 5AR4 if I am not mistaken. Like Dekay points out, Valvo production (and much of the other tube production from the past) was all over the place. This is why it is important to develop relationships...
Hardwood floors vs Carpet
About a year ago I went from a fairly "dead" room to a large, asymetrical and extremely live room (stone tile floor throughout). The room was so live that echos were literally everywhere. After my initial panic I found that it was relatively easy t...
Tubes are not so unreliable
Great story. I think this also speaks to the quality and staying power of tubes that were made when they were the mainstay of electronics. I have always felt that my NOS tubes have been more durable and longer lived that the new stuff. It would se...
Demagnatizing Phono Cartridges
Thanks, guys. I am familiar with the Aesthetix and while I have heard of the Cardas sweep record I have no idea how it works. Sounds like doing both would be just the right amount of "overkill" for me. Most Benz Micro cartridges have been backorde...
Confused newbie
Saw one of the high end Micro Seiki's advertised for sale on this site recently. It was being sold by a dealer and had been very lightly used (or maybe even unused) in recent years. If I am not mistaken, the price was in your ballpark. Photo seeme...
Should Manufacturers Post Prices In Ads
Hi Stokjok. I agree that prices make things easier -- no doubt about that -- it's just that not all advertising is put together that way. And that's by design. Some sauce is on the side and some sauce goes on top, if you know what I mean. Agreed, ...
Speaker base - what material is best?
Hi Kubla. Did Arcici ever make stands for the Acoustats like they did for Quads and CLS's? If so, you might want to try and track down a pair. Arcici stands not only raise esl speakers, but also add rigidity that translates into better sound to my...
New category for trades?
Excellent idea. Maybe this will motivate me to move some of the large boxes (extra speakers) out of the bedroom. I'm sure that my wife would be happy if I traded big boxes for smaller boxes. Count me in.
