Tube integrated amps
I felt like you and purchased a Jolida 302BRC for less than 1K. Changed the stock tubes with Mullards and just enjoy! My only regret is I should have done long ago.
Do true audiophiles own Mcintosh gear
I have been infected with the audio bug for the last 50 or so years. I have always had some type of a audio system; some modest and some not. I have worked in the audio industry at the dealer level and sold the McIntosh line. I have owned both SS ...
Sales: truth in weight?
when quoting shipping, the package dimensions are almost as important as the weight. I find that the shipping calculators listed in ads don't take this into consideration and shipping charges are often more that what was agreed to at time of sale....
Mcintosh integrated
I have owned several McIntosh integrated as well as other brands. The last Mcintosh I owned was the MA6500 and I was very impressed with the way it sounded. I would still own it but it was just too large to fit the new location my equipment is now...
HT reciever help
look for SOUND QUALITY and "EASE OF USE". I did the same thing and regretted it and now run two seperate systems in the same room and will look again sometime in the future when I have more time and $.
Bookshelf speakers for HDTV
Paradigm or Dynaudio Audience 52SE. Might want to add a musical sub like Rel to the mix for special effects or if you have a large room.
Musical FidelityWhich Integrated is best value?
I have owned several IA's and my favorite, so far has been the McIntosh MA6500. Compaired to Musical Fidelity or Krell, it was more musical and less scientific sounding. The only thing I didn't like was the size of unit (too large). If you can liv...
Quad 22L vs Energy RC-50
I've owned both Quad and Energy speakers (not exact models mentioned) and found both very good performers but the build quality and finish go to Quad by a long shot (you have to see the stuff too?) Check on Audiogon for deals on slightly used or d...
Advice about warm, gentle speakers...
try to listen to the Quad "L" series (at least the 12L or the 21L) To my ears, using a new rotel receiver, they are full sounding and laid back but detailed and have never uttered a discouraging word. The fit and finish are well above the price to...
Any suggestion?
for my 2 cents worth, the next logical step would be something like the rotel RA-1070 int. amp. A great phono section and a little more grown-up than the NAD?
Sonus Faber Dominus Grand Piano vs Usher 6831/6731
I have own three pairs of JM Lab speakers form the Chorus, Cobalt and Electra lines, including the Cobalt 816. I found them all to be good but not great speakers and would recommend them if someone liked to listen to primarily rock music. I listen...
Warm speakers?
I have become a fan of Danish and Italian speakers and would highly recommend speakers form the Opera or Sonus Farber lines if you have an amp that will do well with 4 ohms.
Speakers to mate with McIntosh gear
I have a McIntosh MA-6500 SS int. amp and I use the new Sonus Farber Dolmus Concerto two-way floorstanders with Nordost Solar Wind non-bi-wire cables and I think they are just smashing together. The speakers take about 500 hours to fully break-in ...
Dynaudio Audience 52 vs 52 SE
I used the 52 SE with two different high quality ss amps both offering at least 150 watts per side and they did very well with each. The bass was ample and amazing for a speaker this size and not the least bit tubby or slow. I had mine at 28" high...
Speakers To Use With McIntosh Receiver....
Hi, I've owned that same McIntosh unit and I think I used Paradigms with it. I feel that they are an honest value for the money and they offer all types and sizes. If you want to have other speakers in the same room or play two sets at the same ti...
