room setup options
Thanks guys... I'll try both options out, I just wanted to get an idea of what to start off with based on the experience of others.Xti16... you're right they're not bookshelfs and it did sound weird when I typed it out, but I couldn't think of ano...
room setup options
Thanks for the response Carey, and sorry for the confusing drawings. I dont have any drafting background either, I just quickly did those diagrams just more of a reference for the size of the room for myself. You're right it is an L shaped room......
Cardas Clear USB cable... anyone tried it?
Sorry to revive this thread, but has anyone had a chance to try this cable yet?I just got an Ayre QB-9 and I'm trying to figure out which cable to try out, and so far it's between the Cardas, Transparent, and Ridge Street Audio Poiema/Alethias.
room placement question
I probably should've included what speakers I'll be using... I currently have Dynaudio C1 monitors, so this would go well with Mapman's suggestion of listening more near field.
room placement question
Thanks a lot Zargon. That's pretty much what I was thinking, I just wasn't sure. Also, I'm guessing the lack of a back wall shouldn't cause any problems (since I'm assuming the reflections off the back wall wouldn't be something desired anyway).
woofer pumping
Well that's a lot of replies with a few different possible solutions. I'll look at each one and see what I can do, but I really appreciate everybody's help.
woofer pumping
Thanks for the suggestions everyone... I think I may try the KAB rumble filter since it would be a fairly cheap fix if it actually works for me.
woofer pumping
There's a subsonic filter on the 640p but it doesn't do all that much... there's a bit of a difference, but slight.Listening room is about 12x16 with the speakers setup on the shorter side (turntable is about 4ft to the side of one on the speakers...
new digital source
I've already invested quite a bit in the amps and speakers so it wouldn't make sense not to make the most of it by getting a good source as well. I'd like to stay in the $5000 area or so.I don't think I'd mind if I got a CD player. I'm used to swi...
new digital source
I know what you mean Tpreaves, and I can't say I disagree with you because I just got my system and just starting to break the speakers in. I'm still waiting for my cables to arrive and I don't even have a decent source (just testing it out with a...
Whoosh sound on power off
Thanks Atmasphere, and it's true I don't notice anything like this while the amp is running. I wouldn't have cared at all about this probably if both amps exhibited the same behaviour. I switched the tubes from the amp that doesn't have this noise...
cable recommendations
Thanks for all the recommendations. I actually decided to try out the Grover Hoffman cables and with his 60 day return policy if it doesn't work I'll come back to this thread to look into some of the other cables mentioned.
New amp
I just bought a pair of MB-450 monoblocks, but I haven't listened to them all that much yet because I'm waiting for my speakers to be delivered. There's a signature version of the 450 as well which has the signature output transformer (and newer v...
cable recommendations
Thanks for all the responses. I initially considered getting something from Blue Jean Cable since they seem to be a quality cable for the money. But then I thought that since I already invested quite a bit of money in amps and speakers I might as ...
Amp for Dynaudio C1 Mcintosh 402 or Cary CAD 500?
I tried the C1s with a pair of VTL MB-450 tube amps and I really liked the combo. The bass was deep, tight, definitely not lacking, but then again I'm not sure what you're used to. It doesn't have the impact of bigger speakers, but in the medium s...
