Only two tracks to test your system, forever!
A lot of great suggestions here, some I have in my collection, many I do not and will have to check out. @jay2 Being a fan of smooth jazz, I went on YouTube and gave Pete Belasco "Deeper" a listen - great suggestion. Even streaming through my 12 ...
Only two tracks to test your system, forever!
If I had to pick just two to give me a rendition of how my system was performing or to audition other components, it would be: For impact and rendition of percussions and clarity of chimes: track 3 "Posters" on Jack Johnson.s Brushfire Fairytales...
Do speaker cables really make a difference ?
For me: 99.9% Pure single strand OCC Copper in a PTFE sleeve with a textile jacket. Nothing less and nothing more and it doesn't cost $1K per foot......Jim
Upgrading power system
While I concur with the benefit of the higher quality and the tighter grip of hospital grade receptacles, most of the benefits spoken of here are results of clean, tight, new connections rather than over rated circuits and large gauge wire. Runni...
Listening after your entire system was powered off cold for a week+
With all the monsoon storms we've had here in AZ this year, several times I've had to power down and unplug for several days at a time. For casual listening or background music, an hour or so of warm up is OK, but for serious listening, the SS Amp...
The greatest tweak ever?
Playing my system in a vacuum sounds like nothing I ever heard, especially if the air is really well filteredđź‘Ť I'm thinking the entire video of the OP was meant as quite a lot of satire.
Higher sensitivity - more dynamic sound?
Sorry, that was a bit snarky and defiantly not a fair comparison of some of the very nice and efficient speakers of today and even some vintage. Back in the early 80s, I much enjoyed my Vandersteen, 2Cs but by mid 80s, while looking for something...
Higher sensitivity - more dynamic sound?
Last word in efficient or not, I prefer the big open and natural sound of electrostatics and planers over boxes, hands down, but that’s just my personal preference. My favorites over the past many years was a pair of (not so efficient) Apogee Due...
Higher sensitivity - more dynamic sound?
While I much enjoy the wisdom, experience and informative posts of Audio Kinesis, Atmosphere and others, the debate of which is best between which combination - efficient speakers paired with a low powered tube amp vs low efficiency speakers paire...
What is the best 2 channel listening chair?
My favorite listening chair is a three cushion Flex Steel sofa. Just the right amount of comfort - not too firm and not too soft. The back hits just above the top of my shoulders. With a padded ottoman, the center cushion makes a comfy place to li...
Is this a scam?
My policy is to never do a friends and family PayPal transaction with anyone I don’t personally know and when using PayPal will ship only to a PayPal verified address. Best advise is do nothing. If a stolen card, the transaction will be reversed ...
Top 10 vintage cassette decks
Loved my Nak. ZX9. It worked and performed without flaw and sounded incredible. I  also had a Tanberg 3014. It sounded great but had problems with it eating tapes, even after sending it in to get repaired twice.......Jim
Cable curmudgeon
There is a reason the OP likes the bell wire: Single strand copper conductors in a. thin sleeve - usually PVC, but can sometimes be found with the much preferred polyethylene sleeve. It’s cheep and in short runs, does a great job at transmitting a...
Cable curmudgeon
@erictal4075  Looking forward to it :-)
Cable curmudgeon
@newbee In my younger days, I spent many of long nights of practice and most weekends on stage doing gigs with our local rock band to earn extra money. We set up and mixed all our own equipment and at the end of a three hour show we had to tear ...
