TT suggestion in the $7 - 10K range?
I agree with Ebm - ANY of the TW Raven turntables are superb with WORLD CLASS SERVICE!! Of course that presumes that you love MUSIC and not bragging rights and/or the need to constantly "tweak".
Garrard 301 and Graham Phantom or Vintage Arm
I agree with Salectric as well, the Schick is a wonderful tonearm especially with the Miyajima cartridges.
Garrard 301-Worth the effort?
WOW - that's one helluva nice friend to give you a grease bearing 301!Nope...not yet.3009 is an OK start but preferably a Type II.I do not know much about the type V on up.All depends on the cartridge that you want to mate it with.Ironically my li...
Tweaks such as demagnetizers ionizers for lp's
Those are nice and all but first start with as CLEAN an LP as possible. I recommend Disk Doctor and steam cleaning. Even if ou can't afford the Disk Doctor solution and brushes at least steam clean your vinyl using decent (Aquafina or battery) bot...
Garrard 301-Worth the effort?
Thanks. Like everything in life it is a matter of time, money and effort. I fiddled with 301's to my heart's delight and ultimately moved on (TW Acustic Baby Raven). Why? Because the 301 appears simple but is actually quite complex and needs a BIG...
Do You Love Music or Do You Love Hi-Fi?
It's a good question and one that you can answer all by yourself! :)Decades ago there was a simple rule that audiophiles always knew but sometimes forgot to do.Experience LIVE MUSIC - as pure as you can have access to if possible (meaning no ampli...
Lenco and Garrard external ac power supply
Garrard 301's LIKE 220VAC much better than 110VAC.Probably brcause they were originally designed for 50Hz 220VAC.Some users actually do the power conversion so as to reproduce that scenario from 120VAC 60Hz mains.Sounds weird but it does produce b...
Garrard 301-Worth the effort?
Like everything...It is worth whatever someone ELSE is willing to pay for it! :)I've owned, worked on, and know intimate details of the Garrard 301 first hand.First step: determine exactly what you have from your friend's Grandfather.First version...

No, actually 8 Ohm is the correct setting for the stack as the impedance curve is not flat. It is a compromise and it depends on the amplifier being used.

Believe it or not I use the Kimber Cable speaker wire.I forget the model number but it is black (negative) and brown (positive) wire that is braided. I believe that there are four wires of each color (they are NOT teflon).I think that it is the le...
MC Cartridge Degaussing Demagnetizing
Thanks everyone for your nice reponses! :)Elizabeth - Read Jonathan Carr's treatise on this topic (from 10 years ago!) and you will see why your Dynavector does not need demagnetizing. The "more it is done the more it needs it" is complete sophist...
MC Cartridge Degaussing Demagnetizing
Thanks for your responses - much appreciated but I still need more information. Especially on cartridge demagnetizers degaussers.Yes, I read Mr. Carr's piece and that is what my questions were based on. So I need some additional insight. Some facts...

I agree with Weseixas. And stands are important.A word of caution though...Wayne's '57's are sooooo good that they will reveal any flaws in the equipment feeding them.So they have IMMENSE sound quality and will accurately reproduce the good and the...
Schröder Tonearm
I think that your original question was regarding the Model 2 so I will stick to that topic....Pithy answer: I have had my Model 2 for over 5 years now and I still love it! I would highly recommend it to anyone - especially to be used with a MC ca...
