Rethm Maarga Impressions.
I’ve owned Rethm Maargas for a year and a half and I now find it hard to be overly impressed with a speaker that does not perform as well or close in transparency and coherency. I powered them with a Shindo Haut Brion amp which is a push pull amp....
Listening fatigue
In my experience with Mani 2s I once owned, the Totems are only going to play so loud before they start to compress. That may be what you are hearing at loud volumes even though is seems you have sufficient power to drive them.
What did you own in the 60's?
Walkie talkies and GI Joe with a helocopter that had sharp unfinished seams that would cut me I played with it.
The Lawyers Have Taken Over Audio
I think Whart has stated his case well. Mass marketing efforts at this point would appear to be a very unproductive exercise for a small hi end shop. I would love to see some of the promo events happen he suggests. I do try every chance I get to i...
The Lawyers Have Taken Over Audio
I am a big fan, customer and supporter of Gideon. You know we are all in this hobby to elevate the level of the art of music appreciation in the home even though we are surrounded by “muggles”( that would include WSJ reporters) that may believe ...
The Lawyers Have Taken Over Audio
I'm a big Gideon fan, customer and supporter. All on this site within their own financial means and circumstance looks to raise the level of this art while we are surrounded by "muggles" who believe a Bose table top radio is state of the art or at...
I can't part with it; what should I do?
Man... You just brought back some good memories for me. That PL12D was my first TT purchase and it really bettered the next two I had afterwards. But no room for a second table now for me.
Anyone still playing on Cassette decks?
My first official high end piece of gear was a bought new nakamichi 480 deck. I still own it and use it rarely. It doesn't sit in my rack but it's in the music room. I also have a Sony pro walkman cassette player. I'm not converting any of my tapes.
Does you wife touch your system?
My wife rarely makes it down to my dedicated music room and doesn't care to learn about how to operate it which just fine with me. I would only let her play CDs if she did. I am however teaching my 14 year daughter to work the gear. She is interes...
Storm Sandy - best wishes
In South Jersey, batteries, water, no generator, but not in a flood zone. Formulating a audio evacuation plan just in case. Get the vinyl out first!
Basis table or SME
Syntax, any thoughts that you remember regarding the verdier you auditioned?
Pitch Perfect Audio
Closdesducs, in the speaker forum you mentioned you attended an audition at Perfect Pitch Audio. I am curious as to your impressions on the Vosne Romanee versus the Giscours pre amps?
Focal Alto Utopias Width and Depth of Sound Stage
As I think about it more, maybe about two meters apart instead of three might help you a lot also. Enjoy the excercise. Those things are heavy.
Focal Alto Utopias Width and Depth of Sound Stage
I owned these speakers for over six years and although your room is a little bigger than mine, I would suggest they should be against the short wall and your sitting position triangle should be longer. With them firing straight try sitting about 4...
10K$ Speakers for 845 SET amplification
I second the Rethm speakers suggestion , specifically the Maargas for your price range if you are looking to get 3D Stereo sound and transparancy. I'm extremely happy with them powered by my 20 watt Shindo Haut Brion.
