Upgrade from Polk Audio LSi9's
Lush, have you thought about any speakers from the Totem line? The Model One's may be ideal for you. Or the Hawk's or even Forrest's if a floorstander isn't out of the question? I've heard several Totem speakers paired with their own integrated (a...
CD players in $2K range with balanced output
Cairn Fog v.2 with the 'soft' 24/192 upsampling chip can be bought new for $1695, maybe even less? This has balanced (and unbalanced) outputs.

Markeetaux, the Fog offers both RCA and XLR analog outputs, as well as the digital output. I have mine connected to my Prologue Two with Kimber Hero RCA's. Feel free to email me if you'd like more information on this player.

AH Njoe Tjoeb 4000 or Consonance cd120 ??
I am using the Cairn Fog v.2 w/ upsampling with my Prologue Two, and love the combination! At under $1000 used, I think it is hard to beat! It was my choice. I can't compare it directly to either of the CDP's above, and maybe you are strickly look...
Is 9'x11' too small?
Thanks for the comment Kray! I was pleasantly surprised at how well a room this small sounded! Keep me posted on your 'room tuning' efforts, as I am sure they will prove useful for me as well.
Is 9'x11' too small?
Well, I had some extra time this weekend and I played around with my system a bit.1. I took up Rene on the suggestion to arrange the speakers and my listening chair at the distances they would be in the new room. Things got a little better, but no...
Tubed Integrated/$1500/New or Used
I'll third the PrimaLuna. My Prologue Two just arrived, and for the $ it is hard to beat. A great, simple integrated for the tube newbee, and right in his price range NEW! Incredible sound! You could even add a pair of tubes in that price and play...
Is 9'x11' too small?
Kray, I would have a window directly behind my gear as well, not directly behind the speakers, but close enough. I currently have 2" wood blinds on both windows in the room, but I would consider putting up oversized curtains that actually fill the...

Tubes or Sand for Totem Arro under 1k?
Douglikesaudio, I have arros paired with a Cayin TA30, and the sound is excellent!Rrekstad, I haven't experimented with mass loading, but in conversations with Vince, he stated that while mass loading benefits the bass response, it comes at the sa...
Is 9'x11' too small?
Thanks Rene! I tried the calculator and emailed you a couple of questions.
Is 9'x11' too small?
Rene, thanks for the idea. I'll try that in my current listening space to get an idea of what the sound may be in a nearfield condition. Yes, my current space, while larger, allows for little freedom as far as placement goes.
Is 9'x11' too small?
I sit about 9' away from my speakers in my current space. They are about 8' apart and 18" from the rear wall.
Is 9'x11' too small?
Rene, thanks for your comments. The ceiling height is 8', so I am exactly at the same dimensions as your old room. Did you have you speakers along the 'short' wall as I have shown, or the 'long wall'. At 9x11, there isn't much difference, but just...
