Bass notes, base sound.
Tube amp s : Solving the base problem.
Bass notes, base sound. You'll have to ask Mark for his sources for the chasses: What sets the amps apart is high-grade materials used in re-wiring them. The low end really is wonderful: If it got any better, I'd be selling tickets.
Space-Teech Super Rectifier: Do I need it?
Lloyd,Thanks for your response. The "Super Rectifier" replaces the standard tube with two larger ones, plus some electronic wizardry and a connecting plug. I trust Al implicitly, but his products cater to the high end of the market and I guess my ...
Scott Nixon UFO DAC: Next step up?
Thanks for your response; I'll keep an eye out for either one. FYI, I found the proper tube made a significant difference and that the Amperex in particular brought out the high end well, unlike the generic brands.
Scott Nixon UFO DAC: Next step up?

Fot those interested, I'm awaiting delivery of a Scott Nixon UFO; I'll post my comparison to the EE, using my Space Tech/Yamaha changer combo as a reference. Go tubes!
DAC: Scott Nixon vs. Eastern Electric
Thanks for your response; isn't Taiwan part of the US? Would you rate the Scott Nixon as equal to, or better than, the Eastern Electric in treating classical music?
Coax vs. Toslink
Got a nice 2-meter optical cable from Atlona; they also make decently-priced coaxial cables - They're out of San Jose (Support local industry).I think that going through the optical link from the cable box dodges the built-in Comcast HD/Dolby deco...
Alternatives to Emotiva UMC-1/audio vs HDMI
Thanks to all for the thoughtful input; have decided to go with an Integra 9.8, primarily for the Audyssey set-up, but also because it appears to be more machine for the dollar. I'll let you know how it turns out. Cheers, Jon BarnesP.S.: You know ...
