Did I damage my cartridge? I remember seeing a post over at Audio Asylum which seemed very similar to this. I'm not sure if the goo attached to the stylus ruined his cartridge or not. I can't remember if it was Zerodust or Extreme. I'm with Stevecham, you can't beat LP#9.
Point-to-Point wiring vs. PC Board . . . Tube Research is point to point wired.
ZYX cartridge and advice If you can have your old Rosewood rebuilt to Signature level for $900, I can't imagine why you haven't sent it off already. Being the owner of a Rosewood Signature Platinum, I can tell you that I would. Add a bottle of LP#9 and enjoy!
Please critique my new DIY stylus cleaning system. I've used LP#9 for 5 years and have found it to work very well. Upon regular inspection under a microscope, I've found that it is very effective. A $25 dollar bottle will last for years.
How best to clean old 78s. I use Record Research Labs cleaning fluid on my 78 RPM jazz records. Safe and very effective.
CD Treatments-Which ones do you like? Theoretical errors? Ask anyone that ruined their CD's using Armour All whether or not it was theoretical. You may use what you wish, I merely wanted to inform you why it is not a safe product to use. I do not scratch my discs, so I have no need fo...

Stylast compatibility ZYX cartridges So what is the viscosity of Stylast? What is the specific gravity? What is the molecular pressure? Can you prove that capillary action is indeed taking place or to what effect? By the way, the match striker idea was around in the 1960's and is not...
Bybee vs Shakti Both products affect the sound, audibly, Carl. Shakti and Bybee have both been reviewed and discussed, good and bad, within the audio magazines and all over the internet. Have you listened to either, or are you making a blanket stereotype? Bold st...
Stylast compatibility ZYX cartridges I've never seen liquid wick its way up a drinking straw. I wonder how this occurs with a hollow cantilever shaft? If we are talking about a flat roof, I'll buy into capillary action, but not with a hollow tube.I have used liquid stylus cleaners fo...
Placette, VS First Sound VS Audio Synthesis Passio Emmanual did not design the circuit. Paul Weitzel of Tube Research Labs did back in the mid 1990's.
Placette, VS First Sound VS Audio Synthesis Passio Okay. That's the active pre that Tube Research designed for Presence, though it uses 9 pin tubes, right?
Placette, VS First Sound VS Audio Synthesis Passio $4000 for a passive? I usually don't complain about prices of components, but really, what is used in a passive pre that warrents a $4000 price tag? Loaded stepped attenuators?
How do I clean CDs with isopropyl alcohol? Cleaning polycarbonate with IPA, (iso-propyl alcohol)? I agree with Dogeatpuppy on this one. I don't work in the plastics industry, but still remember what I'd learned at College about polymers. Do not clean your discs with alcohol or petroleum pr... |
