Question on how to integrate a sub In my system, Hooking up the sub using the speaker-level inputs made integration easier and more effective. I think you will find others who have had the same. The sub just seems to blend in. Of course, your sub must support speaker-level inputs.
Getting HD cable signal to Infocus X-1 projector I think Monoprice.com has some adapters or cables of some sort to make things like this work.
HDMI to DVI adapter? I have bought at least 30 cables from them and no problems - ranging from cat 6 to analog audio to HDMI.The do see HDMI/DVI adapters
To Direct HD or Not to Direct HD or go Surewest ? Narrod,What drives are you using? I am about to make the exact same move you did and I'm looking at the Apricorn 1T drives $380.I'll be getting two HR21's and I'll pick up AM21's when they become available. My wife Tivo's network stuff constantly....
HDMI 1.3 Audio Signal - Good Enough, or no? It depends on your needs. My HT stuff is totally separate from my 2-channel (to avoid pollution from noise or unauthorized users), so full HDMI convenience/codecs for movies is more important than the purest sound.I have an AVR100 in a second syst...
Why the Distain For the Rotel RB-1080 Power Amp? I had the Rotel 990bx (200/ch) a while back. It was a big step from the late 80's Adcom it replaced. The Rotel was a real powerhouse (bet it would work well for woofers in a vertical bi-amp). I switched from the Rotel to a DNA-1 and that was big s...
The best speaker on the used market for $1000.00 I like used Tyler Reference Monitors in that price range, but a floorstander with a solid footprint might be safer with little kids. Up the range just a tad, something like the Totem Hawk.
how to get good sounding copies of CDs Lossless really is lossless, so you won't lose any information. I haven't used AIFF, but have FLAC and even wav with very good results. I forget what software I use and I'm away from home, so I can't pass that on, but it cost about $30 after the t...
Has anyone ever tried two center channel speakers? Magnepan recommends this in the manual for their MC1 panels designed for HT. They recommend wiring the in series and toeing them in to create a better image from more seats. I have not heard it, but know someone who has this configuration and love...
Multiple inputs to Velodyne DD DD-18 sub? Thanks for the info. Ths SAS-1 looks like what I was hoping for. Any input on the sound quality of Niles gear?
Speaker Hum through Krell 400xi/Yamaha RX-V2700 This may well be from the video input. Sometimes cable or sat are not grounded well. Supposedly, there are things you put inline in the cable to cut this, but I never tried one. I did try a transformer like you and that helped, but not enough.Pers...
Leave an amp "on" permanetly This was a consideration when I chose my amp. I really like the sound of class A, but the class A monoblocks I wanted to try drew 300 watts EACH 24/7. I went with an Edge amp (225x2) that only draws less then 100 watts. I think that it is clear th...
Help needed on a solid state amp?? I had the Plinius - it will be warmer (in a good way).I would recommend that you also look at a McCormack DNA-1 for about $700 used. Smoother than the Plinus, IMO.
Is There Greener Grass For Me? Don't know the TV. One often overlooked thing about HDMI is that you can up-convert material that you cannot with other formats due to copy protection. My DVD palyer will not upconvert over component, for example.Keeping video separate is just fin...
Is There Greener Grass For Me? You will enjoy the sound. Used Arcam AVR300 was the other choice I considered. Part of the reason I went with the Yamaha was to get set-up help from the dealer since the whole HT thing can be pretty overwhelming and not necessarily something that ... |
