VAC Phi 300.1 won't power on.
Problem solved - fuse!  Thanks all!
VAC Phi 300.1 won't power on.
One thread I read mentioned the "Sentry Circuit" which shuts down the amp if a tube goes bad to avoid damaging the amp.  Is anyone familiar with this circuit, and how to reset it?
Audiomods Tonearm.....
Pulled the trigger on the series 6.  At this price it's a bit of a no-brainer.  Mounting it on a SOTA sapphire, where it will replace a Rega RB600.
Audiomods Tonearm.....
Thinking about replacing my Rega RB-600 with an Audiomod Series 6.  Such a value....
McIntosh - is it that great?
I've also recently purchased my first piece of Mac gear - a MC2102 tube amp. I'm using it to drive my Watt puppy 6.0's and I have to say it sounds just fabulous - open, airy and inviting. It replaced a BAT VK-60, which I still have, and a CJ 11A (...
Cary pre-amp with McIntosh amp
I'll put the Cary on my short list - but honestly I'm getting the McIntosh bug - bad... I've read several reviews and clearly it's well regarded (plus it's drop dead georgeous!) My listening room is also on the small side so the power is not an is...
Sonic Frontiers 2 with Wilson WP6.
I think I will - just as soon as I can find one! The one I was looking at is gone now. As I mentioned I had been using a BAT VK-60 and I must say, despite all I've read, I don't think this is a good match for the WP's due to the VERY high output i...
How far I can go with tonearms on my Thorens 124?
I would recomend Jachim Bung's "Swiss precision - The story of the Thorens 124 turntable" to anyone who owns one of these classics. FYI - the book was reviewed in stereophile some while back.
Garrard 301 & Thorens TD 124 voltage
My bad, I did mean asynchonous and not synchronous. I suppose another option is to get ahold of a variable frequency drive. These are used to control the speed of pumps etc..., but if a small version could be found you could easily use it as your ...
Garrard 301 & Thorens TD 124 voltage
I would assume you have a british version, which would be designed to run at 50 and not 60 Hz. If the motor is an AC synchronous (I assume it is) this would cause it to run approximately 20% faster than it should.
Swiss Precision/ The story of Thorens TD 124
The authors name is Jachim Bung and he can be reached at info@redaktionsbuero-bung.de. The price is 81 Euro's, which includes shipping to the US. The book was reviewed in stereophile. http://stereophile.com/reference/408swiss/
Swiss Precision/ The story of Thorens TD 124
I just ordered two copies of this book, one for myself and one for my father who still has his TD 124 purchased in 1966 (with an Ortofon tonearm). Based on the reviews, and having perused several pages of the book online, it looks very interesting...
SOTA, soft feet or cones, when to use either?
I have a relatively new Sota Saphire and hadn't really considered changing out the old feet until I ran across this post. Any issues with threading the Audio Points onto the Sota post?
Used CD player for under $2000
Acutally, I already own a droplet 5.0 which I use in a second system. However, its size preculdes using it in my main system. The 3.1 on the other hand, is a bit smaller. There is currently a droplet 3.1 available on Audiogon, but again I haven't ...
Personal amp evolution
It's interesting to see how many of us got into audio around the same time! My evolution... (the dates are my best guess). 1977 - Poineer SX-650 reciever 1980 - JVC reciever (don't recall the model ~35Wpc)1981 - Yamaha integrated 1982 - NAD 3020 i...
