speakers in a bad room
I can't think of a speaker that will work well in the room as it is today. Way too many reflection points, the room must echo like crazy. Is there any chance you can do make some changes to the room? Buy an area rug for the floor, maybe hang some ...
who lives where?
Nrchy, I prefer to think of myself as a high-tech gypsy. Little Rock? Never been there, so far there's been no reason to go to the Land of Slick Willy. Dave, I wouldn't put too much trust in Kirk, he had full-on sex with a green alien chick.
who lives where?
I reside in Montreal, office is in Ottawa. I travel all over the world to make a living (and feed my audio habit). Quite honestly I don't think I can claim anywhere as "home" anymore Regards, Jeff
SME 345
I think it depends to some degree whether you like to change/upgrade frequently, the SME V is a well known arm and could be easily sold, the 345 isn't well known and as such will likely not have the same pereceived value in the marketplace when it...
SME 345
Genesis168 is on the mark, I bought a SME345 when I ordered my Oracle Delphi IV many moons ago. World class tonearm that has the best the Series III, IV, and V has to offer.
Why so much????
Lots of people spend a ton of money on their 2-channel system, what good is it without the software??? Sometimes you want to cue up classical, sometimes some good jazz, sometimes you're in the mood for hard rock. I've lost track of how many LP's a...
Anthony Gallo Reference 3 without sub
I auditioned the Ref 3's at CES this past January; Anthony was kind enough to play my reference CD for me, Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms XRCD. Man I like those speakers plenty, I went back three times to his room to listen. I suspect they sound t...
Newbi seeking advise - why tubed pre-amp?
If it doesn't glow, it's gotta go! Tubes add a sense of warmth and musicality to any system, and by tube rolling you can dial in the sound to your liking. In looking at your application I would suggest something from Cayin or Opera, both very good...
New Teres 360
That's an ugly turntable in my opinion. Semi, what high end Taiwanese products would you recommend? I'm going to Taiwan at the end of the month. Regards, Jeff
iPOD How many cds does it really Hold ?any Tips??
It depends on how much compression you want to use. In theory you can store 10,000 MP3's on a 40gb, probably about 5,000 AAC's, and about 1000 WAV's. Some folks feel using AAC (Apple's proprietary format) results in no real loss in quality, while ...
best rock voices
Bryan Ferry, Freddie Mercury & David Bowie are obvious, how about Roland Gift of the FYC's and Steve Perry from Journey??? Any votes for Geddy Lee (Rush)? Jon Anderson of Yes? I kinda like Springsteen too.

I've finally lost it
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "wow, what a trip!"
Best excuse for playing loud music?
I can't turn it down, I'm rolling
Results from Beta Testers of New Formulas
Viggen, You can point to all sorts of empirical data and testimonials that are often touted by PhD's but frankly I'm in no position to evaluate the validity of the claims. Since I'm far from being an expert in such things I am quite willing to giv...
