long i/c run...looking for high end cable Balanced Goertz Micropurl interconnect did it for me, 30 foot long run between my BAT VK30 preamp and BAT VK500 amp. I tried using single-ended cables first, they served as an excellent antenna! Balanced only for long runs Jon.
Proac Yew Owners 4yanx,Thanks for the invaluable advice. I found this thread fascinating and incredibly informative.
SS amps that sound like tubes? BAT VK500. Best amp I've heard (and now own) and with electrostatics the only SS amp I've heard that makes smooooooooth music that makes me smile. The VK500 can be had for ~$2500 used and well worth the money.
Describe the way you use file sharing I've heard it all..."I only download the two songs that are worthwhile, why buy the CD?" and my favourite "everyone does it, the recording industry has to adapt". Don't pay artists; they will find other ways to support themselves, it's not too tou...
Great Small Speakers w/ high WAF? Phil,Hard to beat Totem for looks and performance. Beautiful wood veneers, and to my ears the best sounding speaker I've heard for the price. Hop on their website and take a look, the Totem Rokk may just what you're looking for (~$500). Jeff
"Sale pending"--why post it ? If the buyer sez the cash is on its way, mark it as sold. Worst case you don't receive the money and have to spend $2 to re-list it. BFD.
Not another "Should I leave my amp on question???" you're kidding, right?
Have you had buyers/sellers back out of a deal? For the first time, ever, I backed out of a deal. There was a CD player for sale here and the ad indicated the unit had a new transport installed and the player was in great shape both physically and sonically. Since the ad was a "OBO" I contacted...
The Heat Is On I bring my CD player and receiver in from it's summer residence, the shed facing my pool. I also put my summer car away in the garage for the winter, which means I usually pass the winter months "improving" my car stereo. Seasonal stuff that has t...
Music industry troubles caused by radio? Lugnut, I was reading your post and felt it was well done, certainly nothing that could be considered anything less than someone voicing an informed opinion and willing to air his well thought out views. Debate is healthy and lets people consider ...
Build me a killer Rock/Metal Rig for 1K It may not be ideal but worth considering, a used Linn Classik. They can be had for under $1000 and are truly an all-in-one product. The Classik has tone controls if you choose to use'em, allowing you to add a bit more bottom end. The Classik is N...
sub 500 turn table One of the best budget 'tables I've played with is the SystemDek IIx. Well built and inexpensive, leaving you some coin for a decent cartridge (Shure or Denon?)
BAT VK-500 with Martin Logan ReQuests I use a BATVK500 with ML Quest Z's and a BAT VK-30 preamp. I love the synergy and would highly recommend you consider a VK500. Click on my System and take a look at my main rig to get a feel for my associated equipment. Best, Jeff
What do you think Audiogon does right? or wrong? I'd love to see the Blue Book info automatically turn up on every "for sale" ad. I'd like to see what the item sold for new, as well as high/low/averages for the unit, and the sellers asking price all appear on the ad. More datapoints, readily at ...
What do you currently own that was bought on 'Gon? Toby,I sold off a pair of Apogee Duetta II's many years ago and still wish I'd come across another pair available locally and really well priced. No such luck so far. As for any other "deals" on AudioGon? Miss a deal, it won't be long before anoth... |
