Has anyone listened to Nola Micro and/or Metro ? There is a thread over at AVguide.com (the absolute sound) and some comentary here in a recent NOLA Baby Grand thread. Have heard both recently. Love the Micro. Extremely musical, non fatiguing, great resolution. Music vs hifi perspective. Bass of...
B&W vs Vandersteen? I will throw my two cents in here and say that I've listened to the 802D against lots of competition and they hold their own and sound great. As you already know, all spkrs have trade-offs. The 802D's compromises are ones that I can easily live wi...
SHOW attendees: please post speaker reports here fplanner, did you hear the Legacys, and if so which ones and what did you think? I've skimmed the last two TAS CES reports and no mention of the Legacy brand, at least as a best-in-show candidate. BTW, the Von Schweikert Unifield 3 is getting grea...
SHOW attendees: please post speaker reports here Surferjoe, it was the Music and not the new smaller klimt? I've heard the Music at Stereo Exchange in NY, and although a flawed room that robbed them of bass, they seem to have something special going on. I like the single driver over 7-8 octave a...
Magico V2 vs. Sonus Faber Cremona M Have you heard any big planars or stats? Quad 2905, Maggie 20.1, Martin Logan CLX, Sound Lab? They give you everything you want except maybe deepest bass, but they are all incredible for stage, image, holographic 3D and palpable voices. If you occ...
SHOW attendees: please post speaker reports here Great stuff. Keep it coming.Marakanetz: 605hifi asked if it was the 10t or 20t? Can you confirm which (r u sure it was 10t)? Surferjoe, which Vienna model(s)? To all: please identify which model speaker you are commenting on, if you can remember....
SHOW attendees: please post speaker reports here Wow. Thanks for the great notes so far. Surprised about the Magico, if only by reputation, but really surprised about the maggie 1.7, as that has already been hailed as a breakthrough by TAS (granted, they love panels over there). The Aerial 10t s...
Did anybody else notice this about PSB Speakers? Sasha, now that's an interesting question. I have N803's that I love, but have been thinking about upgrading to N802's. Would love to hear comparisons with the PSB and Paradigm, although perhaps that's best asked as a separate thread. I do need to...
Anyone spent time with the Totem Wind? Johnny, that's a very good point. I have no other frame of reference for Totem as I haven't heard their other products, so I wouldn't know what to expect. It is definitely possible they were not broken in yet. However, I can only report what I heard.
Anyone spent time with the Totem Wind? Heard them at Stereo Exchange in NYC. Did not spend a lot of time with them, but was not "wowed" either. They sounded exceptionally clean, with a black black background, but unexciting. My friend said they sounded like they were in an 'anechoic' c...
Integrated SS amps - Luxman vs. Simaudio Moon? Mark:You are looking at excellent choices both. If you are going into this as a hobby where you will continue to tinker and trade, than don't be afraid to buy sight unseen, especially at this level of equipment. However, if you want to buy once an...
Any integrated amps with dac and 2 spkr outputs? Thanks for the replies so far. Nova and Solo do not accomodate 2 sets of spkrs. Outlaw does not support opt or coax digital input. However, seems like the HK and the Accuphase work. Any others? Thanks...
Any High-end speakers "kid-friendly" not fragile? Still want to know about the Martin Logans? and Maggies too? Are the panels on planars, ESLs, etc, reasonably strong? I understand about the squirt gun, but what about metal contact, say a metal toy or key or cell phone? This could be a good solut...
B&W 705 question Call B&W North America. Their website or your owners manual will have number. I'm sure their tech dept can answer your question, and/or they can steer you to nearest repair facility (usually the nearest dealer).
Any High-end speakers "kid-friendly" not fragile? Swamp: most grills I've seen are just cloth. Doesn't seem like much protection.Rleff: In walls are out of question.Son: Martin Logans? Hmmm, interesting. Maggies too? Are the panels on planars, ESLs, etc, reasonably strong? I understand about the ... |
