Local dealer cuts store in half says audio is dead
Somethings wrong with the audio dealers in my area.I don't wear a Rolex or have brand name clothing so they ignore me. Mcintosh has a huge shop with a ton of gear, several listening rooms(closed doors) but I have never heard music being played. So...

I went with a Rega P25.A fellow on Audiogon recommend a Goldring Cartridge. The Rega wall mount also recommended.

Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
I'm a big sceptic when it comes to tweaks.I did buy an expensive power cord and it did increase my low frequency.A window in my room was not installed well and when I added the PC, it started vibrating, buzzing the moment I started listening.Stran...

B&W 805 Signatures. They show up on the second hand market. If you get a good deal, you can use them for a year or two and possibly sell them for what you paid....that makes them free!

What should I get for my first audio system?
Buy good /popular second hand gear and you can resell later when you want to upgrade for very little loss...maybe a small profit. How about a Mcintosh MA6500 Integrated and the B&W 805 monitors with stands.I think you will get plenty of bass an...
Best Integrated, period.
Accuphase E550 or Sugden Masterclass.
Speaker Purchase
Buying second hand will get you more.Sonus Faber Cremonas-$5k,Mcintosh MA6900- $3k,Rega P-25-$1000 TT, and $1k left over for a CD Player and cables.
Leaving amplifiers on all the time???
Been discussed many times here. The conclusion is:Turning them off and on is not good.Leaving them on all the time is not good.Never turning them on is good.
Speaker's efficiency, sensitivity and impedance
So, what would be easier to drive?A speaker with 90DB and 4 ohms or a speaker with 88DB and 8 ohms?
