Which Classe Amps?
I would suggest using a CAV-150 as you mentioned, with the (1) center channel bridged for 300wpc, and with the (4) surrounds at 150 wpc, and then using a pair of CA-150's for the (2) front channels, either bridged for 500 wpc, or bi-amped for 300 ... 
Using a two channel pre-amp with a HT processor.
you can use any preamp, true but... if you don't choose a model with a unity gain input (which bypasses the volume control) you will be subjecting your front left & right channels when viewing/listening to home theater to one more level of cir...

great question. i have been thinking many of the same thoughts. i have a krell hts, but have been running a separate preamp (the front left & right channels output from the hts run through my preamp) because the hts lacks a good analog preamp.... 
Need good amp match for Dunlavy SC-IV's
Heard the Dunlavy SC-IV/A's bi-amped with (2) Classe CA-150's. The sound was awesome (deep tightly controlled base, wide open soundstage, that sense of the music being there rather than coming out of (2) speakers). Classe makes larger amps, but yo... 
Bi-Amping - Best Way?
