NOS tubes for Sonic Frontiers Line 1
Lawrence, I like both the Siemens CCa and the Amperex PQ USA white label 7308 tubes. Both have their own sonic character. I have been switching them back and forth for weeks it seems. I do like the rich warm sound of the CCa on vocals. It is a tou...
Tubes for Sonic Frontiers Line 1?
Try Amperex PQ white label early 60s USA made 6922 or 7308 tubes. Also Siemens early 60s CCa.Here is some reading material,http://www.audioasylum.com/scripts/d.pl?audio/faq/joes-tubes.html#6DJ8http://www.hktubeaudio.homestead.com/files/6DJ8.html

I got a chance to go out and look at some new homes under constuction. In my earlier post I was mistaken, they are just nailing the sub floor to the "I" joists. Glued and shot down with a nail gun. "I" joists 16" on center. In regards to you perso...
Hum in system from interconnects???
Just a thought, if I remember right the Kimber Hero is not a shielded cable, is that correct. Not a good idea to have those long cables hooked up only to the power amp and not connected to the preamp on the other end, I wouldn't push my luck with ...

23/32" that is the thickness, nominal 3/4". Like a 2X4, if you measure it, it is not really a 2X4. The solid bridging in the sound room would be nice. What it will do, no matter where you are walking it will also transfer the load to the joists on...

16" center to center. Do not let the builder talk you out of it. If you can go into one of the houses being built just go to the middle of one of the rooms. Bounce up and down just a little, you will know what I mean. Even heavy walking across the...

I personally would not want the floor joists on 19.2" centers. Pay the extra for 16" center. Basically you would be adding one "I joist" for every 8' run. 16" center is a lot better solid floor. Something does not add up with the 1/2" sheeting ove...

Audiofanki, they are called engineered I joists. The ones with the 2X4 on the top and bottom are the best. 18" centers, I would think more like 16" centers, hopefully not 19.2" centers. With these I joists the builder usually does not install any ...

Yes, it is star grounded.Jim

Talon4 65' #8 awg wire, that's kinda small wire for the distance. I am just guessing but the electrician installed 8-3 with/ground nmc, romex, for your sub panel feed. 2 hots, 1 neutral, and bare ground. The bare ground is terminated on the neutr...
NOS tubes for Sonic Frontiers Line 1
Well here I am again. I bought me a matched pair of new NOS Early 60s Amperex 7308 PQ USA tubes. The first pair I received early this week. Turns out after just a few hours of time on them, one of the tubes became noisy, Microphonic. I bought them...
Silly Question: Short Power Cord + Ext. Cord?
Kevziek, I can only speak of the AudioQuest power cord. From AudioQuest,"AC Power Cables""The power cable going from the wall to an amp, preamp or other component is subject to many of the same distortion mechanisms as speaker cable. The wiring ins...
"Bedini Ultra Clarifier", does it really work??
Theo, the lit says to clean both sides of the CD each time you play it, but I don't. It takes several repeated plays for the disc to start to show any degrade, in my opinion.Tonyptony, I did basically the same thing. Friends that have the same Cds...

In my system the Siemens CCa sounds best. To think I tried to sell them. Compared to the orange label USA made Amperex 6922 PQs the CCa is cleaner, quieter, more air, larger sound stage, deeper tighter bass. I cannot speak for how they would stand...
Did the Cable Guy Do It?
Go outside and look where the cable company's cable attaches to the house. Do you see something that looks like a splitter with a wire connected to it. This a a lightning arrester. Does the wire that is connected to the arrester go to a ground rod...
