Cat 5 - 6 -7 or 8
I have dbillion cat8  at the in coming signal from modem to router and PC . In comparison vs that of Cat 6 flat unshielded to my gear the Cat 6 booted up faster even though the Cat 8 has the highest overall speed (up to 40g tested) but pixelated a...
Need your recommendation on a 5 or 7 channel amp
Saying Parasound is rolled off may be system dependent, I've been using the Halo series on my mains in my combined setup for years. They have air , nuance and gut wherenching current in reserves ,which goes hand in hand for the dynamic peaks Homet...
Help Please:Upgrade Coax cable between Node 2i and Chord Qutest..?
I'm using a 1.5M of the DH labs 750 and find it to be the best sounding coax I've heard to date, do to it's seemingly  complete lack of jitter. I used an Illuminations D60 back in the days but so much has changed in the digital world since then an...

Ayre KX-5 preamp with V-3 amp
@dbphd  I'm still loosely keeping an preamp to possibly mate to my JC5 amp , The KX 5 has always been on my wish list but would better synergy come from the JC2 ? I'll be integrating this into an existing home theater setup.
Ethernet Cables
DbillionDa cat 8 is a flat out fast ,reliable consistent top speeds cable that sounds phenomenal.
Considering adding a dedicated 2 channel preamp in setup?
Think something like the Hint 6 would be the best option with subs, I plan just a 2/ch preamp  (w/HT bypass) option as I run my mains fullrange. For when I do use 2/ch playback with my subs I plan to still let the Marantz 8805 handle that as I lik...
Considering adding a dedicated 2 channel preamp in setup?
@todd1010Most don’t believe that’s possible and someone will think that it’s Marantz "house sound " of yesteryear but that’s far from the case! It has some serious transparent to source 2/ch chops. The only way to know if how much better is to be ...
Considering adding a dedicated 2 channel preamp in setup?
@soix Planning on it next year!
Considering adding a dedicated 2 channel preamp in setup?
I'm using the 8805 and a Jc5 and will curios as to what you find. The 8805 is just fine with 2/ch and find it hard to fault. I added the Jc5 (from an Halo A21) and a Gustard dac A18 last October and that really kicked things up a few notches. I'm ...
Combining home theater with two channel
@dbphd That is one impressive setup and the perfect way to have the best of both worlds. Sounds to me the Ayre and the JC1's are a good match? I'm still largely undecided when I add a 2/ch preamp, if I remember correctly didn't you once use the Jc2?
Combining home theater with two channel
@dbphd The JC5 is a stereo amp , its in essence the stereo version of the JC 1 mono blocks .
Combining home theater with two channel
@dbphd  The JC5 has John Curl's signature on the front front face plate.
Combining home theater with two channel
Yup! your in for a treat with the Jc5 is just a special amp indeed! As for those who tend to down play "good sound " with a pre/processor it’s not as black and white as they say, pro’s and con’s are prevalent with both depending on listening habits...
Multi channel Amps for a 7.2 setup based on PSB Synchrony 1 series + SVS Subs
