Sprks and Jdec: The thread you reference -- concerning a dispute where there are two sides of the story -- has been quarantined on Audio Circle. Perhaps we should follow the example there. Before doing so, perhaps fairness dictates that we also no...
Verity Audio speakers
Seems like the 1/3 rule depends a lot on design:Eggleston and Montana, I believe, say to start tuning placement 18" out. Audionote loadsw in corners, and the bass in Northcreek's near wall designs optimizes at 9" or less.John
Choosing a Solid State Class A/B integrated amp
Dave_72:I have the Pass INT-30A. Lovely, but seriously limiting for speakers.
Verity Audio speakers
it is not so sensitive to room placementDoesn't Verity recommend that their speakers be placed 1/3 the length of the room off the front walls? I'd call that hard to place: eg: 7 ft. from the front wall in a 20 ft room. This has always out me off Ve...
Is it too much to ask....
As I expect many others here do, I browse a lot, and often see items that are unfamiliar to me (that's part of the fun of browsing). If the basics are not listed, I browse on(and all the quicker if I see "If you're reading this, you know . . . ")....
Amp, On A Budget?
Worth checking audiocircleThere's often equipment there at yr pricepoint; lots of diy and garage company stuff that is good value.John
Choosing a Solid State Class A/B integrated amp
Class A is the best for sound, period.I'm currently using a class A amp, but I wonder about this.Is class A better at any given pricepoint? Or is it better only if cost is no object (and you can buy as many of those expensive watts as your speaker...
so many speakers
Surely there's a consensus that there are audible differences among speakers!

Oh the one mentioned I've heard, I think the Evolution MMM, Selah Veritas, and Vapor Cirrus are all excellent. I'd ad Fritz's Carbon 7 to this list, at under 2k. I'd expect of these would play pretty well with SS amplification, and I'm betting wit...
Small room speakers?
I agree with Rlawry that the Evolution acoustics monitor is a nice one.If I were back in a smaller room, I think I'd go for the Northcreek Big Kat (northcreekmusic.com). Good for your room size, and has the added benefit of playing close to walls....
CDs: Deep Storage
Thanks folks!Looks like Peter's suggestion best for me: very cheap for ordinary boxes of the right size, not bad (80 bucks for 10 108 CD boxes) for "storage boxes" with readily removable lids.Scavaging suits me, Rl, but the likely heterogeniety of...
Choosing a Solid State Class A/B integrated amp
Unsound, fair enough: the INT-30A puts out a lot more than 30 in AB. But if you need that, you're not getting the yummy class A you paid over 200 bucks a watt for. Mark at Reno describes a certain "flattening" of the sound if you push it out of A....
Choosing a Solid State Class A/B integrated amp
Unsound, Charles1dad:I own the Pass INT-30 (marketed as as class A, compared to the AB INT-150). It is a very smooth and natural sounding amp. But if David12 is looking for significantly more grunt than his current 20 and 50 wpc channel specimens ...
Choosing a Solid State Class A/B integrated amp
I've got the same question as the OP: I have a Pass INT-30A, which is a lovely piece, but I'd like more speaker flexibility than its 30 watts allows. I also favor "warm" over "neutral." So please do keep your thoughts on integrateds with grunt com...

I'll look for "Motor City Scene," Charles1dad.On Burrell, I expect you've heard the nice Verve reissue of "Guitar Forms"?John
