JMW9sig mistracking
You can usually eliminate the grado dance on the JMW 9sig by adding the VPI 3 gm headshell weight. I used one with my Sonata and the dance was gone. You can experiment by taking 3 gm of blue tac and placing it on the headshell, rebalance and give i...
Sophia 2 vs. Vandersteen Quatro
I am familiar with both speakers.I own the Sophias(1's), and have auditioned the Quatros on a number of occasions at a dealer's show roomthat I've been to many times. There is no "Better" speaker in this comparison. They are both capable of marvel...
VPI record clamp
Have you placed the black rubber washer over the spindle, onto the platter? It should be beneath the records. Its' purpose is to prevent the central bowing of the records you describe.Try it out.

Is a Koetsu Rosewood Sig Overkill for my JMW 9Sig?

Is a Koetsu Rosewood Sig Overkill for my JMW 9Sig?
Thanks for your responses.Do any of the top arms have the same geometry as the JMW 9?I'd hate to go after a fine arm and have the installation look like garbage. Is there someone that has made the switch to a better arm on the scoutmaster? What was ...

Martin Logan Aerius i vs. Spica TC-60
Jacquescornell:Many Logan dealers use a small amount of absorption on the wall behind the Aerius to partially ameliorate the amplitude of the reflection off the back wall.I used a wool oriental rug on the wall centered between the speakers. As an ...
Martin Logan Aerius i vs. Spica TC-60
Jacquescornell:I've owned both the Aerius i and the Spicas.Yes they are both quite extraordinary. I've used a number of amplifiers with the aerius and they can be a touch bright with the wrong electronics. Unfortunately, the Adcom amps are NOT a g...
Grado Statement with EAR 834P
Jimvette8:I have been using a low output Grado statement sonata with my EAR 864 preamp. The 864 is an 834P and an EAR linestage in one chassis. The circuitry of the phono stage is identical to the 834P. There is plenty of gain in the moving coil s...
Which cartridge is the Imaging/soundstaging champ
Readster:The 17D2Mk2 weighs 5.3 grams. Are you mounting yours to the JMW9 au naturale or are you using the VPI 3 gram headshell weight? Are any others mounting 5 gram cartridges to the JMW 9 without the extra headshell weight? Has anyone tried it b...
Which cartridge is the Imaging/soundstaging champ
Qdrone:I know that designers always incorporate their personal taste in the creation of their products. I think our role as music lovers is not just to learn their biases, but to be designers ourselves. No system that's created to excel in one typ...
Which cartridge is the Imaging/soundstaging champ
Thanks all!!!I've ordered a ZYX airy from Mehran. My system is very warm with tubes tubes and more tubes.A neutral, high resolution, detail retrieving cartridge should work perfectly. My EAR 834P MC section has 100 Ohm input impedance, and enough ga...
