Good call on Coltrane....I wonder if on the original recording if Coltrane is panned HARD to one side like on the reissue or not. That doesn't strike me as typical for a Tom Dowd engineering job. Anybody have any comments?
The majic of early 1970's rock and it's influence-
But then again, Elvis imitated Hank Williams et al and all of the black musicians he heard late at night when he could pick up those Chicago and Memphis radio stations. As for Chuck, he was a rytmym and blues man long before he and Little Richard ...

Hey Steve...........did you ever think how cheesy/funny it would be to do a medely of 70's lyrics just by jamming random phrases together? How's this? 5rom the darkest depths of Mordor I....see all good people turn their heads.....and hold the red...
The majic of early 1970's rock and it's influence-
I will admit that amateur pharmacology can make for what, in hindsight, are some slightly cheesy lyrics. I thing even Jimmy Page and Neil Peart would admit today that they smoked a little to much weed and read Tolkien and Ayn Rand a few too many t...

Philosophical point......The better our systems get and the more quality remasters that are issued, the more I realize that the true golden age of two channel recording was 1953 to around 1980. We all know about the RCA, Mercury, et al classical r...

Celebrer..Conventional wisdom on the Von schweikerts is that they MUST have the plinth filled, preferably with lead shot, but it adds 80 or so pounds to the shipping weight so who knows whether the ones you heard were filled. As for directionality...
VR-4jr or Gallo Nucleus Reference 3
I did not get a chance to hear the Gallo's with an SACD player...they were hooked up to an all Cary system, but when I say there was NO bass, understand that this is coming from a guy who had Spica's for 13 years so I know weak bass..lol. My comme...
