Micro Seiki MA-505 variants - any oracles around?
This thread has only been dormant for a couple of months, so why not bring it back?I recently acquired an MA-505L, and mounted it on a Technics SP-25 with the standard SH-15B1 plinth.  With a 270mm spindle-to-pivot distance, the arm *barely* fits ...
The Lifespan of an LP?
Vinyl is tough stuff.  Consider that a diamond stylus incurs wear (i.e., has to be replaced) against vinyl, and not the other way around.  Vinyl flexes, gives up its detail, and then returns to normal after a diamond is dragged through its trench.

Looking for a tube Preamp new or used for under $2000...
The Don Sachs Model 2 is more than just an SP-14 in a pretty chassis.  Don uses upgraded caps, wiring, attenuators, and yes, wooden cabinets.  He also mounts the tubes on top (instead of inside), so it is obviously much easier to change tubes, and...
Looking for a tube Preamp new or used for under $2000...
I have a Don Sachs Model 2 that I am parting with.  It uses 6SN7 tubes, which some say are better than the typical 12AX7 tubes used in preamps.  YMMV
Tubed Preamp recommendations?
Don Sachs Model 2, which is basically a tubes4hifi SP14 with better parts.  You'd have to shop used and probably stretch your budget a little more.
Integrated amp suggestions.
I am inclined to add the Cary Audio SI-300.2d to this list for consideration.  Class A/B 300W RMS into 8 ohms, and 450W RMS into 4ohms, this unit is a beast.  Modern/digital features galore, including wifi and Bluetooth, and an excellent remote.  ...
Best cheap integrated amp
Outlaw Audio RR2150 (or 2160): technically, it's a receiver (has a tuner), but would definitely serve the purpose.  It has a phonostage, DAC, bass management, and a subwoofer output for 2.1.  Plenty of power, cool styling, remote control, and well...
Who buy PS AUDIO ?
My first PSA piece was a Delta 100 power amp, which for me bested an Adcom and B&K, although a McCormack power amp did put the PSA Delta 100 on the sidelines.Along the line, I got a couple of PSA power cords, a wall socket, and a used PowerPla...
Sturdy Turntable Stand
I use one of these: https://www.turntablelab.com/products/line-phono-turntable-station  Quite heavy and solid, has nice features specifically for a turntable stand (call it ergonomic), and won't break the bank.
New to classical music
Edvard Grieg has been mentioned in passing, but specifically, try "Peer Gynt".  Lots of drama in there, and you will recognize a few of the melodies from movie soundtracks, tv commercials, etc.  Make sure to get a full orchestral version since the...
Popular new/used SS stereo power amps under $2500?
In class A/B, I've good had good results with a McCormack DNA amp, and Odyssey amps...ok, technically I've used a Symphonic Line amp, but Odyssey comes from the same designer, and are easier to find in the states. In class D, I like the new PS Audi...
Reasonable high end interconnects: without breaking the bank
For ultimate flexibility in choices (i.e., custom-made), try Douglasconnection.com .  Doug has various grades of raw cable to choose from, including Canare, Mogami, Furez, Furutech.  Same with connectors, including ETI, Vampire Wire, Furutech, etc...
Tonearms with no anti-skate adjustment
Thanks for all the input.  It sounds perfectly fine to me...no mistracking, no imbalance in the channels, no distortion that I've noticed.  But I should do some comparison listening tests in highly-modulated tracks using one of my other turntables...
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
@jdjohn   Any thoughts on kits like this modeled after the Dynaco ST-70?  http://www.tubes4hifi.com/bob.htm#ST70  This isn't a mod or upgrade for stock ST70s, but a kit for building a brand-new amp. Some of the design changes are listed under 'S...
