RCA cable design
All that matters is that V(t) at the termination is equal to the V(t) at the source.  The ground conductor as well as the insulation properties between the source and destination plays a role in this.To achieve an ideal transfer function =1 you ne...
RCA cable design
Tough crowd. Signal doesn’t flow. Current flows. The signal is a time varying electric field between the two conductors. It exists at the input of the cable (source) and everywhere along that pair or conductors. Where is the signal (electric field)...
RCA cable design
The "signal" is the voltage level versus time between the center conductor and the ground potential at the destination.  In an ideal cable this potential (voltage) is the same at the source and destination. In an ideal termination, any current flow...
Who says cables don't make a difference?
@speedbump6, no worries. I was not picking on your test, I was just curious.I have resuscitated my system after a respite of raising 2 kids to college. I look forward to performing my own test now.I design such tests for a living.  My first will b...
Who says cables don't make a difference?
In your test was the test statistically designed?  In other words there needs to be a statistical test where any difference (in means) is tested against the probability that the difference was above a random difference.
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
I do own a Porsche and wrench it my self.  I guess that makes me an Audiophile.
Should a stereo soundstage be 3D or 2D?
I have never been to a live performance (orchestra, acoustic etc) where I perceived front to back cues.I imagine that any front to back cues that may exist in our systems and recordings has more to do how the recording session was mic'd.  But it i...
RM9 won't turn on - switch?
Good to know for the next time,  Thanks Clio.
RM9 won't turn on - switch?
Yup.  Checked the power switch with meter and it was open in both switch positions.  Its a MkII, found some switches on Amazon but had to buy 15 for $7.  Must be really good at that price.
RM9 won't turn on - switch?
Yes, there are 3 fuses. 2 (1A) fuses (probably in the bias circuit) and a 5A fuse which probably is in the filament circuit. They looked good but I will check with a meter. The filaments don’t light which is why suspect problem in the mains.
