Does any one have experience with a high-end amp switch or the Luxman AS-55
Beresford makes a quality line of amp/speaker switch selectors that are both affordable and provide dummy loading to protect your amp if you forget to turn it off when switching. http://www.homehifi.co.uk/S/selector.htmJ.Chip
How To Clean Piano Black Speaker Finish?
Best way to keep piano finishes looking great is to not contaminate them with fingerprints or other contaminants in the first place. Your speaker finish will never need more than a dusting if you are careful. Whenever I have to move my speakers (w...
I wonder why......
What? No drinking?  If musical enjoyment is the end game, I submit one of the best tweeks is a glass of single malt (or your personal favorite adult beverage). Seriously, I rarely listen to my system without some libation. If i didn't prohibit mys...
I wonder why......
Couple of comments;1. Never said aftermarket power chords didn't have an effect or weren't worth it. Just raised a question about why they weren't offered as part of the OE package. Raising the thought that perhaps OEMs didn't feel it was worth it...
Speaker selector app.
GoldenEar Triton 1r - Highly regarded and positively reviewed, extends to 13 Hz with built in 1600 watt sub amps, easy to drive (92 spl), great midrange and treble, and affordable at $6,000 a pair.
Focal Sopra 2's vs Titron GoldenEar Reference speakers
For what its worth, at AXPONA 2019, the Triton 1r's were very favorably reviewed. One of Absolute Sounds reviewers considered the GoldenEar Triton 1r's to be the "best sound for the money" calling it "no contest".J.Chip
Focal Sopra 2's vs Titron GoldenEar Reference speakers
I have the Triton 1r's driven by an old Classe Audio Fifteen amp (175 W) through a Prima Luna Dialogue Premium preamp. My listening position is about 8 feet away and rarely do I need to move the volume control on my preamp beyond 9 o'clock. I've a...
Focal Sopra 2's vs Titron GoldenEar Reference speakers
You're talking about two very highly regarded speakers here and either should serve you well. A couple of points to consider. Both of these speakers have sensitivities over 90 db. I think the Focals are 91 db and the Triton References are over 93....
Jazz for aficionados
Rokid2,"Just as I was about to anoint Lee Morgan King of Jazz trumpet, I put 'Sketches of Spain' by Miles Davis in the player. Order is now restored. I sat there mesmerized. One of Miles' Best ever."Great collaboration with Gil Evans and one of my...
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
Seems to me the best, foolproof protection is to unplug your gear whenever you are away from home or a storm is approaching. Who listens to their systems during a thunderstorm anyway? Cost = $0, Protection = 100%.J.Chip
The JC Whitney syndrome
Thanks Tom. What surprised me is that some people took my post as a personal attack on tweekers. I consider myself just as much a tweeker as anyone in that I'm always willing to try something that can improve my sound as long as it's affordable. T...
The JC Whitney syndrome
Jeez, I cant believe how sensitive and insecure some of the responses have been.1) I haven't made any personal attacks on anyone2) I'm not disputing the worthiness of some tweeks (thank you gillatgh)3) It was certainly not my intention to insult "...
The JC Whitney syndrome
Jaybe,I'm not telling anyone how to improve their system. Just suggesting that any improvements added are not necessarily 100% cumulative. We can agree to disagree.BTW, this whole forum exits where strangers make suggestions and voice opinions on ...
The JC Whitney syndrome
I think my point is being missed. In my post I make it clear that tweeks can have sonic benefits. My point is not that the addition of a new tweek to a system already tweeked won't still yield a benefit, but rather that the sum of the tweeks is no...
Axpona 2019
As a new Triton 1r owner, glad to see that you liked the Tritons. Amazing for the money.J.Chip
