Sound Absorption Behind and Between the Speakers?
I once had a fireplace in the middle behind my speakers with glass doors on the enclosure - - it did great damage to the soundstage due to first reflection point issues.  Absorption worked for me then for dedicated listening sessions (but really d...
Downside to "revealing" system?
Those '70's Reprise recordings I'm guessing you are referencing (NY, Joni, Randy Newman) are sounding pretty decent on my quite revealing system.  Sure, there not the very, very best, but they are absorbing and completely musical.  Something is am...
Periphery outer ring thoughts ?
I do not find a reflex clamp sufficient on its own, as some records don't simply respond flat.  Just tap them and you can hear the "play" and opportunity for vibration mischief.  I would agree that a well executed vacuum system is ideal.  It's too...
How the hell do you select a tube?
I would suggest reading through threads on the PS Audio website Forum.  Lots of BHK 300 users commenting on their direct experiences:https://forum.psaudio.com/t/bhk-signature-250-or-300-tube-rolling/2652/254https://forum.psaudio.com/t/since-my-fir...
Periphery outer ring thoughts ?
The weight concern to me is more about distribution.  You have to have some clearance built into the engagement interface of your ring (due to the variation in LP outer diameters), and that allows for eccentric placement - - in fact, challenges yo...
Periphery outer ring thoughts ?
Yeah, Ralph Karsten was encouraging me to make more (he'd like one, too!), but I am busy enough running a company.  And I think the cost would get high, in the end, too.  It is the perfect vanity project, though.  My employees humor me with my nut...
Periphery outer ring thoughts ?
@billstevenson   I made my own that fits the Technics, a constrained sandwich of stainless steel/acrylic/stainless steel.  It only weighs about 1/2 pound, but it is enough to ensure good contact with my acrylic mat., in combination with the center...
Periphery outer ring thoughts ?
I use a peripheral ring on my Technics SL-1200G, and the sonic benefit is clear to me (along with a Stillpoints LP weight).  They couple the record better to the platter to drain away the spurious vibrations in the vinyl caused by the needle traci...
What do/did you do for a living?
@scubapuppy   My first job was house painting for my step-father.  I loathed they guy, because he was a determined drunk with tendencies toward rage, but I really liked painting houses, even caulking and glazing.  I think I just resonate with hand...
Can you tell me why I didn't like the Reference 3a MM's?
@sounds_real_audio  I'm having trouble understanding what you mean by "the bass seems to have a bubble sound to it".  It's not a descriptor that I have encountered before.  Could you elaborate further, please?
Bach - Goldberg Variations you favourite
Maybe because my wife plays harpsichord, but as much as I enjoy several piano versions, my favorites are on the original instrument.  I have really grown to admire Richard Egarr's recording of late.
PS Audio BHK owners
I ran my BHK pre typically in the 30 - 60 range with a couple of different amp set ups.  I like to listen to music at "realistic" volume levels.  To really blow the walls out, I would get up to 75 or so.
What do/did you do for a living?
The lack of stereo systems showing could well be the effect of "staging the home" advice from realtors.
What do/did you do for a living?
@rafevw  clearly gets the most scratch!  So, I wonder what his system is like?
PS Audio BHK lacking..
Well, the BHK's bass certainly bested my VAC Ren Sig II, which retailed at a distinctly higher price range in its day.  Haven't heard a Modwright preamp.  I'm guessing the BHK's MOSFET output gives it bass authority, but you can play with tonal ch...
