Subwoofer for Ayre AX-7e?
Circling back to this thread with a particular question for folks familiar with REL's subs: Does the Arrow wireless system solve any issues with the high level amp to sub connection problem that some have mentioned here?
Subwoofer for Ayre AX-7e?
So at this point I'm quite happy to check the 1Ci out and see if it does it for me. I'm quite hoping it does and that it has the low end I need to not pine after subs. That being said, between the Ayre and Vandy lovers here, I haven't heard anyone ...
Subwoofer for Ayre AX-7e?
Cool, I’ll look into the 1Ci ... price is right for what it purports.@taww: Thinking about your remarks re: limitations of the Ayre single-ended. I’ve wondered what I’m losing running my RP8-->Lehmann Decade single-ended-->Ayre. My Schiit DA...
Subwoofer for Ayre AX-7e?
Thanks for all of the feedback and suggestions. It’s a fair point that the M5s are the weak link. They’ve served me just fine in the mid/upper freqs for the last 12 years and so I’ve really wanted to fill out the low end in a way that wasn’t going...
Subwoofer for Ayre AX-7e?
So in other words, the Ayre is relatively un-user-friendly for adding subs into my system. At this point, per JohnnyR’s recommendation, should I look at a full-range speaker option and lose the monitors + sub idea? First time i’ve actually had a t...
Done buying new vinyl
Appreciate this thread. I recently bought a $2500 DAC to bring my digital up to par with my analog and what I’m discovering is that the DAC sounds so good with redbook CDs that I’m in this prolonged evaluation process to determine which albums are...
PC upgrade for Rega Aria?
Thanks, stereo5, that's helpful. What was the sonic upshot of your PC? What did you notice?
Exogal Comet Plus DAC vs. Ayre Codex
I've recently become interested in this comparison as well. Anyone?
My jazz collection told me to get a *real* system
Thanks very much for that tip, Chris! It so happens I have a consultation group I'll be attending every Thursday up in Campbell so that's totally doable. As a fellow jazz lover, I'm curious about the system you've put together for yourself.

Thanks, willsw. I'm still a somewhat new transplant from Chicago and I have no idea how to go about finding audiophile and jazz kin. I'd love to find some folks willing to show off their gear. I'd be happy to bring some vinyl.

Thanks for the tip, johnnyb53!

So let me nuance this a bit further. Let's say I hold off on the big purchases and throw down the $8K all at once in another 18-24 months. Seems like working with one dealer who can set me up, and do it synergistically, might make more sense. What...

Totally open to used, pryso! But will you look only at new or can used be considered as well?
My jazz collection told me to get a *real* system
Thanks, Rich! I'll look into the PL.I would suggest the following top of the line Prima Luna tube integrated as the anchor of your new system. It should last 20 years, if not longer. It is certainly powerful enough for most speakers. PL makes tube...
