Why use ground wire from preamp to amp???
/jea48: you're absolutely right. I must have a brain fart then, I meant the shield for an interconnect.Anyway, star grounding is recommended to avoid hum.
Why use ground wire from preamp to amp???
The fact that you do not hear a hum does not mean that there is no voltage differential between the different devices. Star grounding eliminates in the application of amplifier surgery on preamp level. This comes from my comment recently on a t...
Best DAC for pcm files
+1  for AMR DP-777, has two DAC chips inside. Its digital volume control is one of the best in the DAC market, one user mentioned it replaced his ARC Ref 5. In my case I could get rid of my CJ CT5 in the chain. The DP777's USB input has IME excell...

/pal: user vcomerch on the Gon or direct at  audiohorizons@yahoo.com (Joseph Chow), he shipped my order the same day of the order, will have them in a few and will report back after 50-100h break in./wig: so you also use them at power amp level...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Neal, SR Red is known to blow earlier than others, buy one with a slightly higher value. Or use this opportunity to try the AH Platinum or AM Beewax.BTW do you still regard the LessLoss DFPC Ref as your reference PC?
Help needed for isolation under the power amps
/bdp24: As mentioned before, I am not sure about ml as Peter of Symposium hinted it may or it may not work. Before I trend to no ml, which is of course easier for me to execute, i.e. doing nothing. So again, I am not asking for ml but I did ask f...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Thanks wig! Many a times you have made excellent recommendations, like the CH X-20 which is indeed a keeper. I have just ordered a couple AH Platinums for the upstream devices in my main system.
Looking for really fine cables at really low price
/signature: strip the isolation further away and make a noose, be careful that the bare wires do not touch anything else or get some good Furutech spades, e.g FP 203(r). There are also rhodium plated OFC spade plugs on Ebay for less money.
Help needed for isolation under the power amps
Polished granite looks beautiful and I started off by mentioning that I was a.o. considering two 18x12x3" granite surface plate machinist tool (they are fugly but not that noticeable if they disappear somewhat under the amps). I intend to implem...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Probably time for a group buy for AH fuses. BTW AH reseller states this "If you are a former Audio Horizons customer or order of components upgrade, there is a 15% discount off the $115 MSRP...". Where do you get a lasting audible improvement for ...
Help needed for isolation under the power amps
Thanks ebm and polk432. I had the inclination to call Peter but I also needed advise if I should mass load beneath the amps.I tried the Rollerblocks Jr and Rollerblocks Series 2+ with some degree of success before, having a feeling that the cherry...
Swiss amps. Worth the price?
Oh no, wrong again, shame on me! I am missing some good Franglais that I tried to find in your comments, imagined to have found one.Having said that, very few guessed my mother tongue correctly. A good German friend of mine re-imported German cl...
Help needed for isolation under the power amps
Ebm, thanks but which one (Super Plus, Ultra?) As mentioned I have already Symposium Svelte Shelves under them. No mass loading?
Wow .... €50K Headphones ... What next
Smart marketing ploy to raise Sennheiser above the rest. It got people talking, right? The same reason media covers a restaurant who offers a $10k ice cream (a diamond is buried at the bottom). Now the competition around the corner may have much be...
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
I beg to differ. 1.) Good cabling makes a good design even better. Cabling are sometimes misused to correct deficiencies or to enhance a certain range. Until one has experience really great cables, I don't think one can make the statement you ju...
